After several attempts, the young man at the entrance of the restaurant finally managed to persuade us to come inside. And we must say, it was worth it. The food was excellent, and the service was very friendly and attentive. However, at 6:00 PM, we were the only guests, which gave the restaurant a rather quiet atmosphere. We chose garlic bread, tzatziki, a mixed green salad, feta in filo pastry with honey, and fried calamari. All the dishes were served fresh and tasted absolutely delicious. We certainly did not regret coming here and will definitely return.
My husband and I recently visited Thalassa Restaurant in Rethymno, Crete, for dinner. Despite his usual reluctance to dine at tourist-oriented spots—especially those with picture menus—we decided to give it a try after not eating since breakfast, nearly 10 hours earlier. His mood quickly improved after we were warmly greeted by an older gentleman who played the part of a chef to attract customers—a clever touch!
We opted to start with snails, a first for me, and was not a disappointment. The serving was surprisingly generous, featuring a large bowl of snails drenched in a robust tomato, olive, and garlic sauce. The dish was flavorful and truly delicious. Even if you’re hesitant, I highly recommend stopping by at least for the snails. It’s a delightful culinary experience that shouldn’t be missed when visiting Rethymno!
Everything was perfect! We ate here our first dinner after our arrival, and it was very charming! The staff is very kind and friendly, the food is excellent, the service is quick and the mood was very good! We get ‘palinka’ and panna cotta as a gift. We will absolutely go back! 🎉

Brilliant authentic Greek taverna. Great welcome, and the staff were fantastic. Great food. we had Prawns in garlic butter and the other, fried meatballs, both brilliant. We then had Chicken Gyros and Lamb Gyros and shared them both, good portions. The flavours were amazing and plenty of it. Extremely good value in our opinion for what we had. Highly recommend
