It was an amazing holiday and Stella Maria Hotel was the perfect place to fully enjoy it.
The owners Stella and Maria were exceptionel host which made us feel like we are home. They was always very helpful and had great advices for the best beaches, restaurants and places to discover. The rooms and all the hotel was super clean and you could see that the owners really take care of it. After we came back from the beach we often enjoyed a nice drink from the pool bar and relaxed in the sunbeds and in the very nice pool. I highly recommend this place and we will come back for sure again!
I have no idea how this place can get good reviews at all. Mostly written by drunk youngsters I suppose who don’t really care about the hotel they are staying in since they are partying all the time. Ugly spartan rooms with no air conditioning facing the street with bikes and cars passing by until 4 am. Then you can get 2-3 hours of “peaceful” sleep and it starts again around 9 am. Cleaning lady who has no idea how to clean whatsoever (stayed 5 days, she cleaned once). Starting at 9:30 she walks around in thongs dragging her garbage bags and utensils making awful noice, impossible to sleep. Manager seemed to be interested only in flirting with me and looked disappointed when I said I arrived with my husband. The only time he went up to our room was to complain we watch a movie with sound too loud (made me laugh, we are in a damn partying city), more of vengeance I suppose. Nobody cares about you there, shower is ridiculous, fridge will freeze everything you put in to the point you’ll just have to throw it away. Nothing like the photos at all!! Oh yes, when in the toilets – smile – everyone on the stairs outside can see you in a small window. Very useful. Awful experience, my honest advice – pay a little more and take something else.
The hotel was ok, but we’ve stayed at better places in Crete. I liked the size of the room and our double bed, but the light of the lamp in the room was too bright. Unfortunately it was the only lamp in the room. The bathroom needs urgent maintenance and the air extractor makes a horrible noise and you can’t turn it off as there is only one switch for the light together with the air extractor.
The pool area is quite nice.
Everything was exelent, we were staying for 10 days and we spend such a great timr there. Very lovly cleaner who was there everyday cleaning our room. Only minus is for the broken toilette and bath but that not changing my good think about the hotel.
Very disappointed. Our room looks much worse than on the pictures (too much photo shop!!). On arrival no one welcomed us and they only left the key on the table with a note saying it’s for our room, which I thought is ok untill for the next 2 days we haven’t seen ANYONE from their staff (stated “opening hours” of reception desk is illusion) and couldn’t get a hair dryer. I was surprised they clean rooms daily, including washing dirty dishes we left, until I’ve noticed they simply put dirty utensils back into the drawer!! There’s no signs like “do not disturb” to be put on the door, so be ready someone will wake you up in the morning (yes, 9:30am is still morning!). We were admonished we are too loud (listening a music from a little 3W speaker) and disturbing others …at 7pm, when next room couple was out and the only other occupied room was on the other floor in the opposite corner of the building! Well, you get what you pay for. It was our first and the last stay there!!
