Comfort Levels Vary
Room comfort appeared to be a common theme in guest reviews. Some guests enjoyed spacious layouts and daily housekeeping, while others found their rooms smaller than anticipated. The varying experiences highlight the importance of choosing a room that fits your expectations.
Challenges with Noise
If you’re sensitive to noise, it’s worth noting that some rooms are situated close together, and thin walls have led to complaints about noise disturbances. It may be wise to discuss your preferences with the hotel, especially if you plan to return for a restful retreat.
A Family-Friendly Option
Families will appreciate the clean environment and friendly staff at the Skiathos Avaton Hotel, making it suitable for children. However, be mindful of the feedback regarding pest issues, as some guests have reported unwelcome surprises in the rooms that could affect young ones.

Location Considerations
While proximity to Skiathos Town is convenient, the terrain can turn the picturesque walk into a challenge. Some guests have noted that the uphill journey can feel tedious, especially after a day of exploration. Plan your outings accordingly!
Quality vs Expectations
One recurring theme in reviews is the disconnect between expectations set by the hotel’s marketing and the reality experienced by some guests. A few have expressed dissatisfaction, particularly regarding rooms marketed as "deluxe" but found lacking quality.
Staff Versatility
Despite mixed reviews about the hotel’s accommodations, guest experiences with the staff have been overwhelmingly positive. The polite and accommodating nature of the team contributes significantly to creating a pleasant atmosphere during your stay.

Nice hotel but not centrally located. You can walk into town in 20 minutes very easily. Pool area and gardens very nice and well maintained with lots of sun loungers available.
Breakfast buffet amazing with a lot of options.
Bar area really nice and staff helpful and kind.
Room was spacious and cleaned well however bathroom was very tired. We were in the separate building and had an ant problem in the bathroom.
Overall we had a great stay here.
Stayed at the Avaton for 2 weeks in the main building. I had done my research before booking, so I’m surprised my view differs so much from others. That may be because my room was in the main building & not a suite.
The description in the brochure said the room was deluxe, but there was nothing deluxe about it. Very small, no storage & the bathroom & shower cubicle were tiny and flooded every time you showered. The complimentary toiletries were a nice touch.
The bed was huge but too hard for me.
Location wasn’t the best & the 20-minute walk (uphill) into Skiathos Town became tedious rather than pleasurable, but I was aware of the location & walk before I booked, just hadn’t taken on board the terrain. It was good to have the beach & some choice of restaurants 5 minutes walk away for the days we couldn’t manage the walk into town.
Rooms are all located down one corridor & as the walls are so thin, noise from other guests could be heard which impacted on sleep quality, so not the most restful holiday.
The cleaners & restaurant staff all worked hard & daily towel changes were appreciated but not always necessary.
The pool area & gardens were clean & and maintained, but the cushions on the loungers were wet (left out all the time) dirty & threadbare. The photos on the website showing this area are not true reflections.
Breakfast was ok. Fruit, yoghurt & cakes every day along with juices, but the ‘hot’ food option, which included eggs, sausage beans, etc, was tepid at best. Food wasn’t covered.
The hotel is definitely not 4* & I would not recommend or return.
Skiathos is lovely, plenty to do & see, & getting around on the bus is cheap & easy, but I would choose a different hotel more central to the main town on my next visit.
Nice hotel with a two stars bathroom!
The hotel is in a nice location, close to the beach, the bus stop and the supermarket. Unfortunately they should renovate the bathroom as it is very basic and not nice. Breakfast was good, only they don’t have vegan milk, I had to bring it for me.
All of the staff we encountered were polite and very friendly. The place and rooms are clean and well maintained. The hotel provides a good breakfast and a very pleasant snack bar next to the pool which becomes a rather sophisticated restaurant in the evening.
It’s a 15 min walk into the centre with hundreds of bars and restaurants. The only downside is a lack of pavements along a busy road.
We booked a suite with a jacuzzi, the hotel was marketed as a luxury hotel on the hotel’s website. When we got the room we were very disappointed. The room is worn and old, see photos. There was mold in the bathroom with a bad smell. No hot water in the afternoon when many people used showers. Cockroach in the room. Our 6-year-old son didn’t want to sleep in his bed, he was afraid of the cockroaches. We checked out after two days, only got 50% back. When the hotel claims to be luxury and it is not correct, it is marketing that is fraud. We are sending a complaint to the credit card company, steer clear of this hotel.
