Severo Day & Night Moments: A Cautionary Tale for Tourists
1. Welcome to Severo
Welcome, adventurous travelers! As you embark on your journey to Syros, you may hear tales about the Severo Day & Night Moments bar. While it may seem appealing at first glance, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview based on real experiences, ensuring your trip is memorable for all the right reasons.
2. A Night Out with Friends
Imagine an evening filled with laughter and camaraderie, perhaps a drink in hand, enjoying the island’s vibrant nightlife. Unfortunately, not all nights go as planned. A visitor’s experience highlights a request to tone down energetic dancing, which raises questions about the establishment’s openness to different expressions of joy.
3. The Unwelcoming Vibe
If you’re looking for inclusivity and acceptance, be warned. A review from a local describes an encounter with a person purported to be the bar’s owner, who solicited a guest to stop dancing, hinting at discomfort with unique expressions of identity. Such incidents cast a shadow on Severo’s atmosphere.
4. Disappointing Drinks
Picture this: you’re at the bar enjoying a refreshing Grey Goose soda, expecting the finest. Imagine the horror when what you taste is nothing but glorified soda water. Reports from patrons stress that drinks may not be worth the hefty price tag, leaving a bitter taste that lingers far longer than the beverage itself.
5. Dishonesty: A Disturbing Trend
When you pay for drinks, you expect quality – a promise that the Severo team seems to flout. Tales of watered-down cocktails leave guests feeling cheated, with exclamations of unfair pricing echoing throughout their experience.
6. The Aftermath
Yet the disappointment doesn’t end with just the drinks. One visitor described being harassed by local patrons post-departure, creating an unsafe environment that could overshadow the beauty of the island. Safety should never be a concern while on vacation.
7. Poor Service Experiences
Each review seems to resonate with a common theme of disrespect from staff. Visitors recount instances of being belittled and disregarded, especially when not fluent in Greek. Every tourist deserves to feel welcomed, and this discrepancy in service raises serious concerns.
8. Mixed Reviews on Food
While Severo may advertise its food menu, the execution has often left guests wanting. One patron described slow service and disappointing food quality, specifically calling out the Mediterranean pizza—this pizza crust isn’t the only thing that might fall flat here.
9. A Menu That Misses the Mark
Despite the allure of a vibrant menu, the experiences shared often depict a series of unfortunate choices, with patrons standing by a single decent club sandwich in a sea of subpar offerings. You can’t fully enjoy your evening when the food lacks flavor.
10. Beware of Extra Charges
When patronizing a venue that charges for entry or expects a minimum spend, understand the terms upfront to avoid surprises. Some guests reported being told to buy more drinks or face eviction, claiming the deck is stacked against newcomers.
11. The Disco Dilemma
If you’re excited about dancing the night away, know this: a lively environment doesn’t guarantee a carefree experience. Some guests found themselves frustrated when the fun was suddenly curbed, leading to an unwelcoming atmosphere for those just looking to enjoy themselves.
12. Reflecting on the Overall Experience
As you plan your nights in Syros, make sure to take note: some have walked away feeling that the Severo experience is a stark mismatch between expectations and reality, often resulting in disappointing evenings instead of joyful memories.
13. The Importance of Respect
A cornerstone of hospitality is treating every guest with respect, regardless of background or identity. The accounts reflect an urgent need for establishments like Severo to reevaluate how they communicate and engage with visitors.
14. A Warning to Tourists
When traveling, it is crucial to listen to those who have gone before you. The experiences shared serve not only as cautionary tales but as reminders of the importance of cultural respect and inclusivity in hospitality.
15. Emphasizing Authenticity
Tourists should seek authentic experiences that resonate with the essence of the destination rather than the fleeting thrills of a bar that may not have the guest’s best interests in mind. Syros has so much to offer beyond the walls of Severo.
16. Exploring Alternative Venues
Consider seeking out local venues where joy and freedom can flourish unencumbered, and where drinks are served with integrity. Authentic Greek hospitality exists beyond the disappointing experiences shared about Severo.
17. Searching for Genuine Connections
The Greek culture is rooted in warmth and friendliness. Seek spaces reflecting these values, allowing for genuine connections and unforgettable nights without the fear of judgment or disrespect.
18. Embrace the Island’s Rich Culture
Syros is a treasure trove of rich history, breathtaking views, and delicious local cuisine. Don’t let one disappointing bar overshadow your chance to truly experience this beautiful island.

I went there to have a drink with two of my friends this summer. One of my friends likes to dance more openly and energetically. Soon enough that was met by a request by a 60 year-old Greek man – who I would assume to be the owner – to ask for my self to stop dancing like that because “we would not want to disturb anyone”. Being a Greek myself, and since the place was half empty (so there was definitely no space issue) I understood that the man implied that my friends was “too gay” for their bar. Honestly, the people who run this place are fully homophobic and are not worth anyone even passing by their miserable bar. For the sake of other people’s dignity, make sure to stay clear.
I came here with a group of friends, my friend was ordering rounds of grey goose sodas for €15 euros per drink, they served us 99% soda water with a touch of vodka, it tasted like water and it wasn’t even poured out of a grey goose bottle. When we complained and told our waitress she tried some the waters and made a sour face acting as if it was so strong. It was so easy to sip, it was straight soda water, she was just trying to fool us. When we left the bar the waitress’ male friends called us Greek obscenities and followed us from the bar, around the corner into the local gyros shop where they staked us out trying to intimidate and scare us. I would never go back to this bar and would not recommend to tourists. You will be ripped off!
The worst customer experience of our whole trip in Syros as well as all of Greece. The staff belittle and disrespect any customer who is not local or fluent in Greece. They filled our vodka soda drinks with JUST soda and water. Do not approach if you are a tourist! And if I was local I still would be skeptical to approach.
the drinks were full of ice and pricey, so nothing special. the worst thing was the disco: we bought some drinks when we were sit outside, but as soon as we entered the place to dance they told us we had to pay some more drinks, even tho we had the receipt and everything from the drinks we had bought outside.
a guy came to us and told us to leave before we could even talk and actually order.
it’s a scam they don’t deserve anything, don’t go.
First food came quick but the last pizza came 50 minutes later. Club sandwich was ok but stay away from the pizzas. Especially the Mediterranean pizza. Out of 4 pizzas we were able to eat in total 1. They were not! tasty.
