  1. We did a morning walk to ancient Thera.
    The walk wasn’t difficult.
We started taking short cuts as we were going higher.
Going with sneakers would be very comfortable.
On our way back we took a diversion to the left which led us to a small church with a cave and hot spring.
It was the place that ancient Thera got their source of fresh water.

  2. Santorini is a beautiful island. We went there for 3 days and rented a car to driving around the island. Fantastic scenery views & busy tourist attractions up the mountains & cliffs.
Lots of friendly homeless cats & dogs ask for food.

  3. You haven’t been to Santorini if you haven’t photographed at least one church with a blue dome. It’s the symbol of Santorini, isn’t it, and it’s on every advertising poster for the island. A romantic, small island. To enjoy it, visit it by the end of April – the flowers have bloomed, the weather is sunny and warm, but most importantly, the crowds of tourists have not taken it over yet. That way you can enjoy it. We disembarked at the old port of Fira. From there we took the lift and thus had more time for a walk. When you get off the lift, go left. If you go after lunch, you will be able to enjoy incredible sunsets in the evening. If you want to go on the Instagram tour, you have to get off at the other port and from there – by bus, taxi, on foot or by donkey.

  4. We have been to Amalfi Coast and whilst there are certain uniqueness for each, we really thoroughly enjoyed ourselves more at Santorini – and this is even though we were there during winter when many shops/activities were not available. The positive thing about visiting during winter is that it is a lot less crowded and we were told that the “crowd” we experienced for the sunset at Oia was nothing compared to during peak season. We stayed in Fira and had a beautiful 3 bedroom suite by the cliff with an awesome view – could sit there whole year to enjoy the majestic views! The outdoor private pool was way too cold during winter but the indoor heated jacuzzi was a added bonus to unwind especially after a long day of trekking!

  5. Santorini, ah, what a sight! It’s like stepping into one of those glossy travel magazines that sit on your coffee table, only better because you’re actually there, breathing in the salty Aegean air, not just daydreaming about it. My journey to this Greek paradise was nothing short of epic, filled with moments that made my heart skip a beat and my Instagram followers go green with envy. Let me walk you through it, Vespa style, with a twist of spontaneity and a dash of humor.

First off, Santorini isn’t just any island; it’s the supermodel of the Greek isles, flaunting cliffs draped in white and blue, like it’s perpetually dressed for a gala. Oia, the crown jewel, is where the sun dips into the sea, and the world stops to applaud. I mean, the sunsets here don’t just set; they perform, leaving you with a lingering feeling of “Did I just witness that?”

Food, oh the food! Greek cuisine in Santorini is like a love affair between your taste buds and fresh ingredients, with the scenic backdrop of the caldera acting as the ultimate third wheel. I dined at this little taverna, where the feta tasted like it had been blessed by Zeus himself, and the seafood? Fresh from Neptune’s garden, I kid you not.

Now, for the adventurers, the beaches here aren’t your typical sandy stretches. Red Beach looks like Mars decided to have a beach party, and Kamari? Pebbles for sand, because why not? It’s like Mother Nature was showing off her interior design skills.

The history buffs aren’t left out either. Akrotiri is like stepping back into a Bronze Age Instagram, minus the filters. This place got me wondering if the Minoans invented the hashtag.

Here’s some unsolicited advice: rent an ATV. It’s the chariot of choice for navigating the island’s rugged beauty. Just don’t expect a smooth ride everywhere – Santorini likes to keep it real with a few bumps and curves, much like life, eh?

Before you go thinking it’s all sunshine and souvlaki, let me tell you, Santorini teaches you the art of the climb. Those cliffside views come at a price – a workout in the form of stairs, lots of them. But hey, who needs a gym when you’ve got a volcanic island as your treadmill?

In closing, Santorini isn’t just a destination; it’s a vibe, a mood, an experience that stays with you long after you’ve left. It’s where the blue of the sky and sea compete for your attention, where every meal is a feast, and every view a postcard. So, if you ever find yourself here, take a moment, take it all in, and remember – it’s not just about the ‘gram; it’s about the moment. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll find a piece of yourself left behind in those narrow, winding streets, waiting for you to return.
