  1. A sanctuary with a story. The inside is amazing beautiful with a lot of shiny copper and gold.
But the weirdest thing I experienced in this church that lots of people come in to kiss the feet of a long past and very dead ‘saint’. Of course it’s a cultural thing but this experience overshadowed the beauty of the church imo

  2. I have never seen something like this. The Patron Saint Dionysios , is not dead , he is like fallen asleep. I touched his legs and are soft legs like he had died a few days ago. It is a true miracol, and after reading about his life, he is a true Saint and people are right with honoring him. And the church is beautiful an Orthodox masterpiece, even if is not so big. So peacefull was the Liturghia…
Definetelly if you go to Zakynthos you should visit The Church.

  3. Beautiful Orthodox church decorated nearly fully from floor to ceiling. Nice heaven of calm to take a break from long walks on this beautiful island. Entrance is free and you can buy candles to light and make a wish.

  4. The Saint Dionysios Zakynthos Holy Orthodox Church is a small but truly breathtakingly beautiful church that amazes visitors at every turn. For tourists on Zakynthos who are interested in culture, history, and the Orthodox faith, it is an absolute must-see.

We had the privilege of attending the Feast of Saint Dionysius of Zakynthos on August 24th and were able to admire the openly displayed relic of the island’s patron saint with our own eyes. The evening procession was another highlight, rounded off with a never-ending fireworks display. We highly recommend experiencing this for yourself and planning a trip during this spectacular event.

  5. Saint Dionysios is the patron saint of Zakynthos. This Orthodox church is the largest church on the island and the first built in Saint Dionysios honor. It’s located in near the port of Zakynthos.

Inside the church you’ll find murals of the patron saint’s life, as well as many handmade portraits. It has a 40 metres tall bell tower, but it’s not open for visiting. The mummified body of Saint Dionysios is preserved and his tomb is available for visits. Many there kissed the tomb, as practiced by orthodoxes.
