  1. Platanos is a special place. My husband and I stayed in Anopoli for four nights (at an apartment up the road) and ate at Platanos three times. We had most of the menu – all of it fresh, homemade Cretan and Greek dishes.

We enjoyed everything, including the stuffed zucchini flowers, the boureki, the grilled chicken, and, of course, the fresh cheese and the lamb. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff made us feel at home, so much so that we were sad when we finished dinner our last night and said our goodbyes to everyone.

If you’re looking for a true taste of Crete, then look no further than Platanos and Anopoli!

  2. Rating the restaurant. Fantastic service and food! Exactly what we wanted when we ventured into the remote mountain villages. Home cook meals (best moussaka in Greece) excellent mountain tea brewed fresh Malotira, amazing thyme honey (we bought two bottles). Thank you for a great experience!!

  3. We are at the restaurant. Good food with good price and good qualities. Almost full house during lunch and dinner with good atmosphere. Yet the service remains attentive and personal.

  4. We did not stay at the hotel but we ate at the restaurant twice. It was so good we drive up from Sfakia to dine! Everything we had was delicious and fresh. Most items were grown by the owners and the cheese was even made by this family. We also bought some of their local honey that is from their own bees! It does not get any more authentic than this. In addition, this family owned taverna has wonderful service and are all so very friendly. Truly one of the best dining experiences of our trip!

  5. Eva Platanos is amazing! She and her crew have thought of every detail to make the most impressive guest house and restaurant experience. The super clean rooms even have sliding screen doors so you can enjoy the fresh air the sounds of the mountain village. The food was top notch: hands down best moussaka ever and a very fresh, original twist on a Greek salad. All the food fresh made here! Not like the rest! Eva’s kindness and generosity are contagious, as evidenced by all the staff.
