Nature’s Unspoiled Canvas
At Paralia Megali Lakka, visitors are greeted by stunning natural surroundings. The beach features contrasting rocky and sandy areas, providing an idyllic setting for sunbathers and swimmers. The cobalt blue waters of the Aegean are inviting, as Loris Giuliani beautifully describes the bay as "very isolated" and deeply appealing to the senses.
A Quiet Cove for Reflection
As you step foot on the beach, you’ll immediately recognize the tranquil atmosphere that envelops the cove. According to Gerry Boshoff, the beach’s calm and serene nature makes it a perfect spot to unwind while enjoying a delightful picnic. With minimal distractions, it’s the ideal place to reflect and rejuvenate your spirit.
Boat Tours and Culinary Delights
One unique aspect of visiting Paralia Megali Lakka is the boat tours that drop visitors off for a few hours of bliss. Gerry Boshoff enjoyed a leisurely lunch on the beach, enhanced by the temporary setups from the boat crews. While there are no permanent restaurants, the charm of enjoying a meal in such a picturesque setting is unparalleled.
A Secluded Sanctuary
Unlike more crowded tourist spots, Paralia Megali Lakka offers an exclusive experience combined with stunning natural beauty. Visitors have emphasized the allure of having a quiet cove all to themselves, perfect for those who value peace. You’ll feel as if you’ve discovered a personal sanctuary in the heart of nature.
Embrace the Elements
While basking in the sun, it’s important to be aware of the beach’s unique characteristics. Thorstein Franche mentions the rocky entrance and challenges with shadow, advising visitors to seek refuge around the small chapel nearby. This quaint chapel adds a touch of history and serves as a perfect backdrop for your beach memories.
Treasure the Sunsets
One of the most enchanting aspects of Paralia Megali Lakka is the breathtaking sunsets. As the sun dips below the horizon, the colors transform the sky into a canvas of reds, oranges, and pinks. It’s a unique spectacle that every visitor should experience, so don’t forget to capture these magical moments.
Swim in Crystal-Clear Waters
Thorstein Franche highlights the swimming opportunities available at Megali Lakka. While the initial entry may be rocky, the sandy area just a few meters out invites you to enjoy the comforting embrace of the Aegean. Grab a pair of bathing shoes and get ready to dive into an aquatic wonderland.
Sunbathing Amongst Nature
With limited provisions for sunbeds and umbrellas, visitors can immerse themselves in the natural luxury of the beach. Embrace the unique setting as sunbathers lay directly on the warm sand, soaking in the sun’s rays. The unpretentious atmosphere encourages relaxation and connection with nature.
Cautionary Notes for Visitors
While the beach is a paradise, it’s wise to keep some practical advice in mind. Some visitors mentioned the presence of sea urchins, so remain vigilant as you enjoy the waters. Opt for accessing the beach from the west side, where the sandy bottom provides a smoother entry for swimming and more enjoyable overall experience.

Beautiful beach accessible by boat or foot.. very well marked hike from the dirt road above..
Quiet cove, only accessable by boat or foot. We went there by boat tour and had a lunch there.
Local beach situated north of Phytagorio accessible by boat or by walking only.
North east bound charter boats departing from Phytagorio visit the bay.
There are no restaurants other than what the boat crew sets up temporarily during the stay. Umbrellas are worn and it is difficult to find shadow other than around the chapel. Sunbeds are unlocked by the boat crew and not available for visitors other than arriving with the charter boat.
Besides a typical Greek chapel there isn’t much to see or do other sunbathing and take a swim from the beach. Entering into the water might be difficult as the first part of the beach is rocky. The outer part, 10-15 mtrs out, is sandy and comfortable. Advice bathing shoes. We where warned about sea urchin, but didn’t see any. Advice to access the water from the west side where the bottom is cleared and easy access.
