Each stone tells a story of the past, making your stroll through the ancient walls feel like stepping back in time.
The View That Takes Your Breath Away
One of the key highlights of visiting the Old Fortress is the panoramic views that await you at the top. From here, you can capture stunning vistas of the Ionian Sea and Corfu Town. These spaces contain exhibits that narrate the fortress’s history and its important role throughout the centuries. Just be prepared for an additional entry fee.
The Allure of the Cannons
As you wander through the fortress, you’ll encounter fascinating remnants of its military past, such as the impressive cannons that line the ramparts. These artifacts not only enhance the historical ambiance but also provide a fascinating glimpse into the fortress’s defensive strategies.

Well worth a visit. Plenty of area to explore and you will be rewarded for a walk to the top by a tremendous view across land and sea. You can explore the museums at extra cost on the ticket, but we didn’t so cannot comment on them. It can get very busy, so expect to queue.
An impressive fortress which towers over Corfu Town. There are many levels to get fabulous views across the town & the bay. Some interesting cannons to see & a lovely chapel as well, build in the style of ancient Greece. There is a café also which we did not try but was very busy & washrooms. Again like the New Fortress many steps & ramps so may not suit people with walking difficulties. Try to get there early to beat the queues from the cruise ships. Highly recommended for the views alone.
We had a fantastic time exploring the Old Fortress of Corfu. The history here is truly impressive, and walking through the ancient walls gave us a sense of stepping back in time. The views from the top were stunning – panoramic views of Corfu town and the sea that you can’t miss. It’s a bit of a hike to get to the top, but totally worth it. Make sure to allocate enough time for your visit, as the top of the fortress closes at 8:00 PM. It’s best to arrive at least an hour before to fully enjoy the site. If you’re into history and want a bit of adventure, this spot is a must-see!
It’s cool, but most buildings are closed and used as storage. The exterior is fun to walk and offers beautiful views of the water and the town of Corfu. I hope one day they can open up a few rooms refurbished so we can more fully immerse in what life was like for people who lived and worked in the fortress.
Stunning scenery from the top, but beware there is a lot of steps & some of the more worn cobbles are very slippery a decent pair of shoes are a must as I saw a couple of people slip with sliders & sandals. But for 6€ it’s great, there’s a lovely seated area for refreshments with a stunning view.
There was no waiting or booking we just payed on the gate, children are fee too.
