A nice experience on a baking hot day in late August. A large complex on a few levels. The architecture is very impressive but the highlight is the panoramic views from the upper level. The site may not be suitable though for the less mobile as many of the cobble stones are shiny & worn plus steep ramps to negotiate. Recommended for the views.
Great view over the city of kerkyra on top of the fortress, entrance tickets costs 5 euro and you can walk around the fortress by yourself. Unfortunately their is almost no explanation about the fortress during your visit, maybe during high season you can get a guide but we only see a man at the gate who sold the tickets.
Very nice view from a top. Try to avoid the sunniest part of the day. It was very hot at 2 pm. They work only till 3.30 pm. Buy ticket option with 6 Corfu museums (17 EUR). This one is included.
Do not follow the map which isn’t leading to the right entrance! The entrance is on the left side of the fortress, in an uphill street with stairs. There isn’t any signs, explanations or anything helpful to guide you around the fortress. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it except if you bought the museum pass.
A bit tricky to find, as Google shows the entrance as within a souvenir shop!
If you follow the walls around towards the old town, past the entrance to the Army barracks, and the small square, there’s a street to the right, heading upwards.
There is a sign post, but it’s across the road, so easy to miss.
If you’re using Google maps, there’s a Mexican restaurant that’s listed, which is at the entrance to the Fortress.
It’s worth the walk up, for the views over Corfu Town and the Old Fortress.
There’s an entrance fee, but free, clean toilets on site.
