The most amazing bee experience, we found out how the honey is made, lots of facts about the bees, tasted different types of honey. My favourite part was when we put on the costume and we saw the bee hive inside and got to touch the bees. Elisavet is so passionate about her bees and wants to spread the love for bees to as many people as possible. I highly recommend!!! Also got to cool down with some cool herbal tea from the fridge!
Elisa went out of her way to give our group an amazing experience educating us the difference between the types of bees and the different types of produce. We were greeted with cold tea from the herbs off her property as she explained the Ikarian way of beekeeping and how they remove the honey, royal jelly, and pollen. We got to try various kinds of honey and even touch the bees from inside the hive. We finished with a fabulous strawberry (from her garden) jelly dessert. This was the highlight of many in our group. This is a must do experience if you are travelling to Ikaria. Thank you Elisa.
It was a lovely experience this visit. Melissavet is an amazing hostess. We had Nik as our translator once we don’t speak greek. She received us at an outside table carefully prepared with cold tea. She spent a long time explaining Ikarian’s style of life and the meaning of the blue zone. We also learned about bees and honey, royal jelly, and pollen. I felt like I was at a friend’s house. We tasted three kinds of honey: spring, summer, and winter. After that, we went to see the bee hives. We touched the bees! It was amazing! Melissavet finished the visit by delighting us with a fruit dessert and fresh fruit from her garden. We could not have a better evening! I highly recommend the visit if you want a unique experience fulfilled with love and care. A sweet evening!
Great activity – the hosts were very welcoming and friendly. We went to taste the available honey and to see the apiary. Unfortunately, we did not have time for a full tour, but we were able to taste the honey and local tea. Honey harvested from three times of the year are available for purchase: spring, fall, and winter. Apiary tours are available and the tours are approximately 1.5 hours in length.
By far the best I’ve ever eaten!! I have tried more than 15 honeys from all over Greece, but I have never encountered this quality, this aroma, this taste anywhere! Congratulations! Go on like this!!
