Lovely little village nestled in the hills, originally intended to eat at a place up the road, but the view over the sea and the tree covered tables made Mantalos look very appealing. We enjoyed the food as the sun set on the horizon. Glad I had the special (the Lamb and Artichokes) and the Mousaka was also amongst the best we’ve had in Crete….and we’ve had a lot!
Restaurant Mantalos was recommended to us by the pottery craftsmen from the Kerameion shop , who gave us a phenomenal presentation of pottery making. The host was excellent and secured us a table by the fence with a stunning view of the olive grove, the Cretan mountains, and the sea. We ordered the goat specialty and the lamb specialty, along with the Mantalas salad. The meal was delicious and deserves a 10/10. We were also offered complimentary Raji and dessert, which were incredibly tasty. The view is breathtaking. This place deserves the highest ratings and is perfect for watching the sunset, which, in our case, was unique with the sun appearing white due to high humidity.

The village has some beautiful pottery shops and they are well worth a visit.
