Great sunrise views, staff lovely and attentive, rooms clean and well kept. Breakfast to die for! A 30 minutes walk to Fira, great hike and very quiet place. I will stay there again.
When I travel, I like to stay in small, local places that have a flavor of the land. Luna Rossa is just that. I personally do not like pretentious hotels. It is centrally located, on the bus route, across from the safe walking route to attractions and towns, and has the nicest owners and staff imaginable. Every one of them goes above and beyond! Breakfast was fresh and lovely every day. Our apartment was spotless and pristine, and was cleaned to perfection every day. Fred and Elani are the most amazing people and I’ll remember them always. Fred helped me with a luggage issue and a flight confirmation issue, never complained, and was truly an angel. He and Mano made every difference in my life. If you want a comfortable, homey, local inn, surrounded by people who sincerely care, this is the place for you!
Luna Rossa made our vacation to Santorini infinitely better. Fred constantly repeats his motto “when you are here, you are home” and if your home consists of amazingly beautiful views, an infinity pool, and an amazing staff that helps figure out logistics.. then yes it’s like being home. The excursions and restaurants that were recommended were incredible (and even the more expensive ones were well worth the price… In particular would recommend the sunset boat excursion). When we wanted to be adventurous and explore the island on our own in a rented car, staff arranged to have a car delivered to us and collected again back from the hotel. The arrangements and recommendations were all so considerate, and in the best interest of the travellers. Having a trusted person while traveling to an unknown country is invaluable. Finally, would recommend having breakfast at the hotel by the pool at least once during the stay plus if you’re lucky and it’s available, opt for the deluxe apartment room with the 360 view of the island, it’s more than worth it. If you’re concerned about the location on the island, it was not a problem getting anywhere at any time. If the concern is about the noise of passing cars (which I read from other reviews), it really was not a big deal; if you’re super sensitive to noise would recommend not staying near the coastline because that’s where the primary traffic is. We loved our stay on the island and staying at Luna Rossa definitely was a huge part of the reason why.
Can’t say enough about our stay here. Fred & Elenie were exceptional hosts. Treated us like family and staff was amazing. Mano, Zedna , Kostas were over the top with their professional and friendly service. Unbelievable breakfast served daily in your room and overlook the ocean watching the sun come up. Location is perfect. Infinity pool and bar and stunning views. Views of Caldera and walking path to town right across the street. HIGHLY recommend!
We had such a wonderful stay at this conveniently located place. Fred, his wife and their team made our stay very special. They are amazingly helpful and nice specially kostas and the person(forgot his name) who is in charge of the pool/bar. Fred gave us brief history of the island and gave suggestions for restaurants. If you rent a car, it’s about 15mins drive to Oia and about 15 mins drive to Fira. It’s located away from the busy area which was pretty nice. It’s a very clean and well kept hotel/apartments. We will be staying here again. Highly recommend booking the room with the balcony or the balcony with a jacuzzi if you want both caldera view and the view of the other side. Otherwise you won’t get the caldera view. The pool was amazing but you must know hot to swim. It’s about 1.80m (5.10 ft) deep. Highly recommend this place.
