Discovering L’Artista Mykonos: A Culinary Journey
A Hidden Gem or Just a Mirage?
Mykonos is a vibrant island known for its breathtaking views, lively parties, and exquisite dining experiences. Amidst the bustling tourist scene lies L’Artista – an Italian restaurant that has garnered mixed reviews. With a blend of ambition and artistry, it aims to capture the attention of hungry travelers seeking a taste of Italy on this sunny Greek island.
A Vegetarian’s Dilemma
For vegetarians, the options on Mykonos can be limited. Unfortunately, this led some diners straight to L’Artista, hoping to satisfy their cravings with pasta or pizza. However, for those seeking a light meal after indulging in local wine tastings, the experience at L’Artista proved disappointing. The unrequested extras, like fried rice fritters and a bread basket, left many feeling scammed rather than pampered.
Costs That Leave You Reeling
Dining out in picturesque settings often comes with a price, yet at L’Artista, countless patrons found themselves grappling with sticker shock. From hefty bills unexpectedly padded with bread and snacks, to overpriced dishes like cannelloni that didn’t live up to their lofty cost, one can’t help but wonder whether the ambiance is truly worth its weight in gold.
A Pressure Cooker Environment
Many visitors have noted the crowded staff presence at L’Artista, creating an atmosphere thick with peer pressure. Instead of enjoying their meal, diners felt hurried and stressed, leading to an overall sense of discomfort. While service is vital, it’s crucial that it enhances the dining experience rather than detracting from it.
Dining in the Dark
The restaurant’s dimly lit atmosphere has drawn mixed opinions, with some claiming it made the meal feel empty and lacking in vigor. The ambiance is as significant as flavor; however, the dark corners of L’Artista may stifle the vibrancy expected from a night out in Mykonos.
A Clash of Expectations
For those looking for genuine Italian flair, the food at L’Artista can sometimes disappoint. Diners who anticipated contemporary twists on classic dishes shared their experiences of ordinary meals failing to match their expectations. In a culinary landscape rich with flavor, mediocrity leaves a bitter taste.
Exceptional Service or Overbearing Attention?
While many guests have praised the attentive service from individual staff members, others have reported intrusive and pressure-filled interactions. A delicate balance in dining service is crucial, yet at L’Artista, this balance seemed off-kilter, affecting overall enjoyment.
A View to Admire
Despite mixed reviews on the dining experience, L’Artista is known for its beautiful views, particularly of the old port. It’s a stunning backdrop that has left some diners in awe, contributing to the ambiance that one might expect from a fine dining experience on this idyllic island.
Memorable Dishes to Try
Some diners champion particular menu items, like mushroom carpaccio and beef tartare, lauding their taste and presentation. These bright spots amid the overall mixed reviews could serve as a guide for what to order should you choose to dine at L’Artista.
A Mixed Bag of Culinary Experiences
As is common in the dining world, experiences vary widely. From those who rave about the impeccable service and exquisite cuisine to others who lament about deceptive practices and subpar food, L’Artista embodies the dichotomous nature of restaurant reviews.
The Michelin Comparison
Lining itself against Michelin-starred establishments, some diners were left yearning for more sophistication and personal touches at L’Artista, asserting that truly exceptional service should be the norm rather than an exception, especially given the prices.
The Price of Regret
Amid the numerous reviews, a consistent theme emerges: regret. Diners express displeasure regarding value for money and the overall experience. When spending nearly 100 euros, the expectation is to leave feeling fulfilled, not disillusioned.
Learning from Experience
Visitors have walked away with lessons learned about discerning dining choices in Mykonos. For anyone considering L’Artista, a healthy skepticism and a well-prepared palate may aid in navigating expectations and experiences.
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
As potential diners mull over the prospect of visiting L’Artista, it is essential to understand both high praises and grave warnings. Exploring varied viewpoints can lead to a nuanced decision, whether to indulge or skip the restaurant entirely.
A Final Verdict
In a city known for its culinary delights, L’Artista stands as a reminder of the highs and lows of dining out. As you savor your time in Mykonos, remember to do your research, feel confident in your choices, and above all, trust your own tastebuds to guide you!
The enchanting allure of Mykonos awaits, but why not choose your dining ventures wisely as you explore every aspect of this mesmerizing island?

Absolutely pretentious place! We ended up here only cos we are vegetarians and we’re finding it difficult to find a good place to eat. We had just come back from a wine tasting with food and so we were not very hungry and just wanted to have some decent pasta or pizza and head back to our resort. We ordered our wine and cannelloni and when asked if we would like some starters we told the manager that we just got back from a wine tasting and hence are not very hungry to eat a 3 course meal. She smiled and nodded and left but ended up sending us some fried rice fritters and a bread basket which we did not order. The food was okay at best! In the ended we had a bill of over 100 euro! And charged nearly 30 euros extra for the ridiculous bread basket and fritters that we didn’t even order! You never send something to the table that the customer did not order if it is not complimentary from your side! We have dined at some of the best restaurants around the world and have never experienced this kind of behaviour! You want to run a restaurant that only serves 3 course meal then be up front about it! Don’t scam people like this! Not everyone wants to eat a 3 course meal everyday. Do yourself a favour and go anywhere else in Mykonos, at least you will not have to deal with the ridiculous staff whilst eating mediocre meal!
Strange experience. Crowds of staff to add peer pressure and hardly any other fellow diners. Empty and dark atmosphere.
We were out of vegetarian options on this island so we decided for this Italian. We were handed over from one staff to the next, whilst they took unnecessary details from us before being seated.
Bread was placed on our table. Assuming it was complimentary only to be surprised by seeing it on the bill at the end. It was over 20€ and we barely touched it since we didn’t want it in the first place.
The cannelloni was the most expensive we’ve ever had but it certainly wasn’t the greatest. Just average.
The lowest priced white wine by the glass was 15€ per glass. Nothing special and yet another member of staff came over to pour the white wine into a red wine glass. Then came the realisation that this place is not what it appears to be.
A very pretentious place in my experience. Albeit a great business and strategy. I cannot imagine how much profit they must be making from idiots (like me) who in the moment chose to go there.
The bill came to 100€. Value for money? Nope. An evening of pure regret and the only negative experience during our trip to Mykonos.
Lesson learned.
Amazing experience at L Artista in Mykonos. Very good service, excellent cuisine and a very nice view to the old port. Very beautiful inside as well. Well done! We recommend the mushroom carpaccio and the beef tartare. Special mention for the service of Stavros. Many thanks!
Absolutely perfect. The service was impeccable. I went to many Michelin stars restaurants who didnt have this level of service. I dont leave reaviews usually, but I was so impressed with the service that I felt obligated to do so – it made you feel special. Also the food was very good, but the service was top. Thank you
Disgusting lying place with stupid overpriced prices. Intrusive service. Very ordinary food. And they are thieves and schemers. They refused to give a fiscal check and insisted that they could only give a check to Greek citizens. They need to be closed
