Discovering Hotel Kari: A Cautionary Tale

Introduction: Dreams of Greece

When planning a magical escape to Greece, travelers dream of sun-kissed beaches, breathtaking views, and warm hospitality. However, potential guests should be cautious when booking their accommodation, particularly at a place like Hotel Kari. This presentation aims to highlight key features, experiences, and feedback from visitors, ensuring that travelers are well-informed before making their decision.

Expectations vs. Reality

While Hotel Kari may have appeared appealing in online images, many visitors have expressed disappointment upon arrival. This discrepancy between promoted beauty and actual conditions has led to regret among guests who expected a serene retreat but instead faced a less-than-ideal experience.

A Run-Down Retreat

Multiple reviews emphasize that Hotel Kari has seen better days. The once charming establishment appears to be in disarray, with outdated facilities and a lack of cleanliness noted repeatedly. Travelers seeking comfort and relaxation may want to reconsider their options when considering this destination.

The Struggles of the Cleanliness Issue

Reports of unclean rooms are a prevalent theme. Guests have described dirty floors, outdated furniture, and poorly maintained bathrooms, which seem to have languished in neglect. Visitors may find themselves longing for a basic standard of cleanliness that is lacking at Hotel Kari.

Unpleasant Surprises Await

From a flooded balcony to incessant complaints about broken lights and cracked glass doors, the woes experienced by guests are varied yet alarming. Travelers may be dismayed to find themselves unwittingly stepping into an uncomfortable situation rather than a pleasant escape.

Unsatisfactory Customer Service

When guests have raised concerns regarding their accommodations, they often encountered unresponsive or dismissive staff. The tales of long waits and unsuccessful attempts to remedy issues paint a picture of poor customer service that could deter future visitors.

The Allure of the Beach

Though just a stone’s throw from the Aegean Sea, the Hotel Kari beach is not without its concerns. Sea urchins and rocky waters have made it less appealing for beachgoers. Thus, while the location boasts proximity to the coast, the reality is not as idyllic as it might seem.

Dining Woes: Breakfast Boredom

Hotel guests voiced their frustration over monotonous breakfast offerings during their stay. With a lack of variety in daily meals, visitors found themselves uninspired and unsatisfied, a far cry from the delightful culinary experiences one might expect while vacationing in Greece.

A Glimmer of Hope

Despite its challenges, some visitors noted that the hotel provided at least a decent space for families with little kids. While the facilities may not meet every traveler’s standards, moments of family bonding at the beach or playtime can still be enjoyed during their stay.

Honesty in Reviews

While many reviews highlight negative experiences at Hotel Kari, it’s essential for potential travelers to consider all perspectives. The candid feedback from previous guests serves as a vital tool for those looking to make informed decisions when seeking accommodation.

A Financial Dilemma

Even once guests decided to vacate the premises, they faced difficulties when seeking refunds. The complex processes involved often led to confusion and frustration, leaving travelers feeling cheated out of their hard-earned money.

Reflecting on History and Hospitality

Hotel Kari’s legacy as a vacation spot from decades past seems to loom large. However, rust from neglect and a failure to modernize can overshadow any nostalgic charm the hotel once held, making it essential for potential guests to weigh whether this spot matches their expectations.

Alternative Options Await

Greece is abundant with stunning locations and hotels that cater to varying tastes and budgets. For travelers determined to have a fulfilling Greek experience, exploring alternative accommodations is undoubtedly wise.

Conclusion: Choose Wisely

In closing, Hotel Kari serves as a reminder that appearances can be deceiving. While visions of paradise shine in the imagination, grounded reality may lead to disappointment. By carefully considering the feedback from previous visitors, tourists can make educated choices that will enhance their travels, ensuring they create cherished memories in Greece.

Next Steps: Happy Travels

For those planning their journey, consider researching accommodations thoroughly, reading trustworthy reviews, and seeking recommendations. Safe travels and may your adventures in Greece be as beautiful as the breathtaking landscapes you will encounter!

  1. I created an account so I could warn any other poor soul who would be tricked by the pictures on booking.com like us.

My wife and I had the misfortune of booking Hotel Kari for our stay in Greece after seeing the pictures on Booking.com. What was supposed to be a relaxing week in Greece became a torturous quest to get a refund.

The hotel was probably quite nice at one point in time (about 50 years ago) but has become a run down, filthy, dump.

The “owner” clearly lives in the recreation areas of the hotel and has absolutely no respect for cleanliness. There is a rubbish dump cordoned off with red tap by the main entrance and the garden is littered with broken machinery (including two boats).

The linen and furnishings in the rooms were so old that they were either dirty, broken, damaged or needed replacing. It seems that the linen is dropped off at your room in big rubbish bags (the one in the picture was left in the rain).

We arrived with our 18 month old child after saving, since he was born, for this trip and after checking in, we were given a room that would have gotten a negative star review.

The floors were dirty, the bathroom smelt like someone had forgotten to flush the toilet after doing terrible things. The lights were broken and the glass door for the balcony was cracked. Nothing was maintained at the standard of even a 1 star hotel. We then went onto our balcony and noticed that a family of hornets had colonized the area. When we asked for another room they could not help us. When we asked to have the hornets removed they said they would do it at night and that we should spend the day with our doors closed (in Greece, during summer).

We decided to find alternative accommodation without even spending one night at Hotel Kari. After speaking to booking.com and being told we would get a refund, I went to speak to the owner respectfully because I wanted to discuss the situation with him. After confirming that I was speaking to the owner (Manuel), I respectfully discussed all the points above and asked if it was ok to get a refund so we could find alternative accommodation. He was incredibly understanding and agreed to give a full refund (but don’t let this fool you). After Manuel tried to contact booking.com three times by phone, he told me that booking.com have the money and would refund me.

Long story short, it took two days for booking.com to get a response for Manuel because he was trying his hardest to be evasive, unhelpful and refused to answer any emails. I had to go to the hotel and plead for him to speak to booking.com for 3 hours and got shouted at by cleaning staff. Manual had decided that the hotel would only refund me 20% of the booking fee despite agreeing to a full refund previously. Keep in mind that we did not spend even 1 night on a 7 night holiday during a peak season for tourism in Greece and I could see that some other poor soul had gotten our abomination of a room from the reception of the hotel.

It then came out that he is in fact only a partial owner of the hotel and could not make any decisions about refunding our hard earned cash to us. When I asked if he could call the decision makers, he refused. Then he offered (out of the goodness of his heart) a 40% refund, confusing me even further about him not being able to make the decision about refunding us.

In conclusion, do not book with Hotel Kari. The facilities, gardens, staff and rooms need an overhaul and the owner/not owner misrepresents what kind of decisions he can make. It truly ruined our holiday and left us feeling let down and distraught that Hotel Kari has gotten away with 60% of our cash despite agreeing to a refund initially and giving us no service.

  2. during the heavy raining there was a whole on the
balcony roof, so our balcony was flooded
    – bathroom was under the water during rain
    – unpleasant woman ( the host) after showing her the
flooded balcony with towels which we used to prevent
water to come into the room
    – furniture is very old
    -wifi is very bad
    -breakfast was the
same every day of our stay and insufficiently diverse, after 3-5 days you don’t have desire to eat anymore thesame things; the hotel beach was full of sea urchins and we didn’t use it!

  3. Old rooms that need renovation, quite basic, bathroom not nice, beach right in front though but other beaches are better to be honest. Owner (I assume he was) saw me looking at the walls of the reception at 12 at night and asked what was the problem, I replied with “you have lizards on the walls” got response “so what?” Wouldn’t recommend.

  4. It is an old vacation location, probably from the 80’s. The buildings although slightly renovated are still outdated in all respect.
The surrounding garden is almost dry and in the poor conditions . On the every pathway, armour piercing thorns are found everywhere. And this, is not a joke. The beach is small and the water is full of stones. The average rate per night is roughly 110$. But if you looking only for the sun light, the smell of pine and the Aegean sea, it is a right place.

  5. It’s nice place for families with little kids. The beach i very nice with sand and free lounge beds and umbrellas but you must have water shoes because the water is full with rocks and sea hedgehog. We were in room few steps under level and when it was raining the room was filled with water. The girls who work there were super nice and clean the room, but the weather was bad (in June) and it was raining two days in a row, so they have to clean our room almost every hour, so we leave early because there wasn’t free room on the floors.
