Welcome to Athens, the beautiful capital of Greece! Today, I am excited to introduce you to one of the city’s main attractions, the Ippotikon Restaurant. Located in the heart of a bustling tourist area, this restaurant offers a unique dining experience with its stunning ambiance and breathtaking view. One of the highlights of Ippotikon Restaurant is its mouthwatering Greek platter and grilled octopus dishes. Visitors have praised the excellent taste of these dishes, and the prices were found to be reasonable. However, it is important to note that some guests have mentioned an additional charge called “couvert” that is not mentioned on the menu. It seems that this charge includes bread, which is commonly provided. Unfortunately, the handwritten check in Greek made it difficult to determine the exact amount per person. While the food and atmosphere receive positive feedback, it is crucial to consider the experiences shared by some visitors. Unfortunately, there have been instances where items were added to the bill without the customers’ knowledge. This has resulted in unexpected higher costs. Moreover, a service fee of 13% has been charged without prior notice. Additionally, payment by card is currently unavailable, and guests are required to pay in cash due to a broken card machine. An ATM is conveniently located on-site for this purpose.Despite these drawbacks, the Ippotikon Restaurant offers a great atmosphere with its castle-like surroundings and ample space. The friendly service provided is noteworthy, enhancing the overall experience. However, some patrons found the food to be overpriced compared to other establishments in the area. This is something to keep in mind when considering your dining options. It is essential to mention that while the staff is friendly, some guests have observed disagreements amongst them, creating a disruptive environment. It appears that there is room for improvement in terms of coordination and communication among the staff members. Additionally, a few visitors mentioned that the food was excessively salty, leaving a less-than-desirable impression. In summary, the Ippotikon Restaurant in Athens offers a unique dining experience with its beautiful ambiance and stunning views. While some visitors have encountered additional charges and payment limitations, the overall atmosphere and taste of the food have been well-received. However, it is crucial to be aware that the prices may be higher compared to competitors in the area. We hope that this presentation has provided you with valuable insights, enabling you to make informed decisions during your stay in Athens. Enjoy exploring the city and savoring its culinary delights!

The place is located in the middle of a very tourist area so be prepared to pay more than elsewhere in the city. The ambient and the view were very nice. The prices for our Greek platter and grilled octopus were actually alright and both dishes tasted very good. But they charge couvert that isn’t mentioned on the menu and we didn’t even get any bread which is common when charging couvert. I can’t even tell how much that was per person as the check was handwritten in Greek and they wouldn’t let me keep it.
Avoid this place like the plague. Like other reviews are mentioning, they add items you didn’t order onto the bill when you go to pay, so you end up paying a lot more. They also charge a 13% service fee on top of everything, which isn’t mentioned beforehand and you have to pay by cash because “the card machine is broken” and they happen to have an ATM on site.
Great atmosphere but unfortunately a little bit slick on the food and prices. Asked for bread with dip x 2 but what I see is only one portion and was told it was two portions. This is the smallest dip of two portions I ever seen. The beer was very cold which was a plus. Don’t recommend
Nice castle atmosphere, lots of space, friendly service and alright food, but overpriced compared to the competition and for what you get (20€ for linguine with 🦐). As 3 stars on Google state: it’s okay. We did not like (4*) or love it (5*).
The staff was loudly conflicting with each other at the dining area, thinking that there are only tourists in the restaurant… But there were also greek guests who understood every word.
Food was terrible and extremely salty. The waiters were carrying serving-trays full of dishes and drinks, without even knowing which tables they have to serve… They just randomly asked every table “Did you order this?” and some orders were even returned to the kitchen at the end… They were really friendly with the guests, but the whole thing is just a huge tourist scam… Save your money (because you are going to be charged crazy amounts)
