The seafood here was awesome. The staff was great. Living in the states you’re so used to paying so much for food that when you come for seafood like this never in your mind you think that it’s only less than $80. Atmosphere was great the view was awesome. Our servers were very attentive to us And delivered excellence. We highly recommend this place they have awesome seafood. We had octopus, muscles, sardines, and their dessert.
Didn’t really like fried cod at first but enjoyed it later. Octopus is really well done! I ordered tiramissou for dessert and it was delicious. The serving is pretty and the portions are pretty big. Also the service overall is good.
Lovely spot right on the water. The mussels and the lemon olive oil shrimp were very good, but the seafood pasta was over cooked and the ceviche had so much dill that you could not taste the fish. Their raki was the worst we had in Crete. We loved the dips and the bread. Overall the building is beautiful, the seafood is fresh and the service is fast and professional. We would go back and try it again.
Ippokampos Restaurant
They have an enclosed outdoor seating area that affords views of the sea, an island and the Fortress. Unfortunately it’s right beside the main road and is extremely noisy.
The food was fabulous. The grilled vegetables were particularly delicious. The grilled sea bream was very fresh and tasty and came with good vegetables. The salad was also good and was big enough for four. The bread basket was also very nice – it had bread sticks, great whole grain crusty bread, whole wheat hard toasted bread, seeded crackers and white bread (the only thing we didn’t eat). It came with two nice spreads and some good but very salty olives.
They have half liter and full liter carafes of white wine and retsina but not red wine.
After the meal complementary tangerines, vanilla ice cream, chocolate cake, strawberry cheese cake and raki are served. A very generous free desert.
Great sea food, grilled vegetables, all meals gluten free! (while many other places fry in flour)… Mossels were already half eaten while taking a picture, one gets a twice fuller plate 😃
