1 star service to you.
Someone comes in, asks for tickets to get printed and there’s no fee, now I come and ask for tickets to get printed and it’s 10 euros.
Absolute disaster! Customer service is completely rude, the car they gave us could barely drive and they will just charge any excess they feel like with no explanation or paperwork! AVOID! The only bad part to our wonderful holiday in Ikaria- AVOID AVOID AVOID
Best Travel agent and Car rental in Agios kurikos Ikaria….
We rented a car with ikariada via a german website called check24. Our flight coming into the island was delayed and I was in constant contact so that they do not wait for us, helping to communicate what in my view was fair and alleviate any trouble for them and their staff. When we eventually arrived there was no one there waiting for us; they had left a car, old and unlocked outside for us and a category lower to what we had paid for (Hyundai i10 instead of i20). When I called to ask they tried to tell me that this was the category I had booked and if I wanted to discuss further I should go to their office. I did, they were not there. I waited and eventually met them. They tried to tell me that they only had the obligation to wait 2 hours and my flight was delayed far too much (though I had been calling them a few times and they knew in advance and never mentioned and issue with the 2 hours waiting time) and in a nutshell I should be happy with having a car at all. They offered to give me a Jeep (old and scratched) instead until a car in the category I had booked became available. The jeep they offered as a “great deal” was totally out of gas and the gas station was closed and we had an early trip the next morning so we decided to keep the lower category car with gas until another became available. Two days later eventually we got a car on the category we had booked. A day before departing, today as a matter of fact, we went by to ask how we should return the car and get the paperwork done and also discuss the refund for the first days. We were told to leave the car unlocked at the airport and that perhaps “some of their boys will be there” and if not to just leave it unlocked (which also means unchecked) and when asked about the refund for the first few days hell broke loose. The lady told me we were given a jeep which is more expensive and when I tried to explain that actually we never took the jeep she kept telling me with a lot of sarcasm “well, my paperwork says you had the jeep so either you imply I am stupid or you are”. She repeated this a couple of times.
I have to admit the younger guy I spoke to regularly to exchange the car was far more helpful than the woman at the office. What would have been even better throughout would have been honestly and transparency telling me: “you know what, I am sorry we don’t have the car you booked for and our other cars are out of petrol so how about you keep the lower category for a couple of days, we will give you the appropriate price for it and when a car to the category you paid for becomes available we will exchange it.”
Simple honesty would have resolved it but sadly there was none of that. Very surprising for an island full of kind and upfront people.
Having respect for the people who work for this car rental at a time of financial crisis I do hope this review helps them reflect on their values and the service they provide so that they can not only maintain but grow their clientele and services.
Worst car rental experience! To be avoided!
I booked over the phone and they confirmed a peugeot convertible for 50 eur/day. They never replied via email as I was trying to get a written confirmation. When we got there they gave us nissan micra, charging the same price. And did not recognize I had booked a convertible for that price. Even worse, they lied that this was a brand new car, with only 1000km (it was old and the km had been modified). Also, it was the dirtiest car I ever rented, with dust inside.
I recommend trying to find another car rental alternative if ever in Ikaria.
