The Journey Begins: Why Explore Beyond the Classics?
Definitely Greece is not just a travel company; it’s a passion project aimed at highlighting the authentic, unfiltered beauty of Greece. While Mykonos and Santorini are indeed phenomenal spots to visit, only a fraction of the country’s 6,000 islands garner most of the attention. If you’re seeking quiet retreats with rich experiences, join me as I unveil six remarkable Greek islands perfect for your next getaway—at more wallet-friendly prices.
Meet Serifos: A Tranquil Cycladic Island
Our first hidden gem is Serifos, a few hours from Athens in the stunning Cycladic archipelago. This island is characterized by its iconic whitewashed buildings adorned with blue windows, evoking the quintessential Greek aesthetic. Serifos boasts serene beaches and inviting campgrounds for those who appreciate nature. Don’t miss Serifos Chora, perched on a hilltop, which offers breathtaking views of the harbor—a historic strategy to ward off pirates. If you crave an affordable Cycladic escape, Serifos is a must-visit.
The Charm of the Saronic Gulf Islands
Next on our exploration are the Saronic Gulf islands: Poros, Hydra, and Aegina. Hydra, renowned for its car-free policy, offers visitors a glimpse into genuine Greek island life. It was also a cherished retreat for the legendary Leonard Cohen. Combine your visits to these islands through scenic tours, and during your stay in Aegina, marvel at the Temple of Aphaia, or unwind on its pristine beaches. Each of these island experiences contributes to a rich tapestry of Greek culture.
Experience Romance in Milos
No exploration of underrated Greek islands would be complete without mentioning Milos, often celebrated as one of Greece’s most romantic locales. Though not a hidden secret anymore, Milos captivates with its intimate setting. Stay in the charming town of Adamas and embark on day trips to discover the island’s picturesque beaches and quaint fishing villages. Be sure to explore Sarakiniko, a breathtaking beach famous for its unique lunar landscape—an absolute highlight during your stay here.
Unwind on Lefkada: A Natural Paradise
Our next stop takes us to Lefkada, nestled in the Ionian Sea. This island consistently ranks among the top destinations for breathtaking beaches worldwide. Porto Katsiki, famously translated as “port of the goat,” requires a descent down steep stairs—but the crystal-clear waters are worth the trek. Engage in activities like windsurfing and trekking across this family-friendly destination, perfect for those seeking leisure amidst natural splendor.
Icarus’s Legacy in Icaria
Moving to the eastern Aegean, we arrive at Icaria, an island named after the fabled figure who flew too close to the sun. Though it may require some effort to reach—either by a longer ferry ride or a direct flight—Icaria’s allure is in its rich culture and the remarkable longevity of its residents. Recognized as one of the world’s blue zones, Icaria boasts a significantly higher number of centenarians than average, attributed to its relaxed lifestyle and community spirit. Partake in vibrant local festivals, called Panigiri, where you’ll savor traditional dance and music.
Setting Sail to Lemnos: An Untouched Gem
Lastly, we journey to Lemnos, the fifth-largest island in Greece, positioned effectively for those adventuring from the mainland. Lemnos charms with its artisanal cheeses and an atmosphere steeped in family-friendly activities. Explore the island by renting a car to discover its numerous beaches and hiking trails. A historical treasure, Lemnos also bears significance for Commonwealth visitors, as it played a crucial role during the Gallipoli Campaign.

What about Paros Island? How is it there? Thanks for lovely video🙏🌷🌺
Also if you visit the Saronic islands you have to visit Agistri island.
It is a small island behind Aigina and it is FULL of mediterranean maritime pine trees.
Almost whole island is a forest.
Or, if you visit Aigina , take a small boat and go for a few hours to the close island of Moni with a beach bar with deer and peacocks casually walking around you while you drink your beer
PLEASE do not throw rubbish anywhere in Greece be clean and respectful
Serifos is amazing
It is like a mediterrean mountainous desert with sea around
Be careful of the sun if you walk long distances as there are not a lot of trees and shade is rare
You can pass out from the sun easily in July or August I am Greek and even I almost passed out once there because of walking a long distance under the sun

Hi, very informative vlog. What about Corfu, is it more populated than these islands….which mode to travel between the islands is cheapest
Has anybody been to Ag. Efstratios, that can tell me a little about it.
why 90% of the video is showing this woman's face? i don't get it
Я был на Корфу, Крит и еще в некоторых местах.
Спасибо, люблю Грецию❤
Nice-looking girl, but I don't think she is Greek.
The video should of been little more Qaulity
The definition of "island" is questionable.. about 5,773 are more like "the begining of new continents". As the earth cooled, volcanism formed these "islands" which eventually connected to form much larger continents, but weren't lived upon as life had not yet appeared. This could be a cool new route of tourism for geology nerds though.
Great channel.
3:37 is exactly the time when the sound gets completely broken until the end of the video
