  1. Wonderful cave that looks like the roof is held up by a single piece of very old wood. Well worth the walk up from nikiana beach and there is a tap with fresh drinking water to help you on your way. Yes there are spiders and cobwebs occasionally stretching across the road but they are easy to avoid or push out of the way with a stick! The views of the bay below are stunning. You can continue up to the hill above and there is a circular hike around the hilltop to another 2 monasteries. Two thirds of this summit route are on a very pleasant rocky track through the woods marked by occasional splodges of red paint. Beware though it’s 5km up 5km round and 5km down so best done early morning or late evening with lots of water.

  2. Nothing special. The monastery itself is not accessible and theoretically the small cave with the altar inside is also closed.
But it is only closed off with a rope and therefore accessible.
It doesn’t pay to go extra.
