Beautiful clear green lake next to the ocean. Park at Limnionas Beach, have a swim in its beautiful blue waters and then follow the path to Green Lake. It’s marked with blue paint on the rocks. The path is very rocky and the rocks are quite sharp, so a decent pair of walking shoes is recommended. The lake itself is beautiful, however there are small sea urchins so watch where you put your feet, or wear water shoes.
Finish off with a beer and swim at Limnionas on your return 🙂
With the fortune of a northeast wind and calm seas we were able to come from the charter to climb up the rocks for an amazing experience.
This hike was really not worth it. Following the blue dots is tricky, the first 20 minutes is walking along flat but rocky terrain. The heat was a lot and no view. The next 20 minutes is rock climbing, which was tricky and felt dangerous at times. All this to arrive at a small pool filled with urchins. The pool is also very very salty so our skin burned a bit. Not worth the hype.
Tricky to find and the cove next door had better swimming. Green lake was very green – looking pretty stagnant in fact. Maybe it’s the time of year – end of summer, low rainfall, calm seas with no waves breaking into pool. Followed cairns along path until they ran out, then tried to find a way down. Very steep. Realised there was a way in from the north around cliffs. After passing large cove, stay low, don’t head up the hill (where there are more cairns, confusingly). You’ll find a series of cairns and blue dots painted on the rocks to show the way. It’s rock-hopping, not an easy path. Pass caves, pass cliffs and descend to the green lake. Once you’ve seen it, return to the cove for a refreshing swim (there’s a way down to the water on the north side). On the walk, rocks are jagged – wear long pants and even gloves if you have some.
Absolute must have regardless of hike (which is 25min tops with stunning views),you need proper shoes though (sneakers)
