Adventures in Greece: From Unexpected Airbnb Issues to Savoring Souvlaki

A Ferry Encounter with New Friends
While cruising through the scenic waters of Greece, we encountered a charming couple from South Korea. Our delightful chat resulted in a unique keepsake: they translated our names into Korean, and in return, we rendered theirs in Russian and Romanian. It’s these serendipitous moments that enrich our travels and add personal touches to our journeys.

Nature at Its Best: The Deep Canyon
As we explored, we found ourselves at the edge of a magnificent canyon, where the winds whispered secrets of nature’s wonders. Although we contemplated sending our drone soaring above the canyon’s depths, we decided against it—first, for the sheer beauty of the views, and second, the risk of losing our drone in nature’s embrace.

Culinary Delights of Dimitsana
On the gastronomic front, we couldn’t resist ordering souvlaki, a heartwarming dish of barbecued chicken served with crispy fried potatoes. While they were tasty, they didn’t quite compare to the delicious potatoes we enjoy back home in Moldova. The flavors of the Greek salad complemented our meal perfectly, making for a fulfilling dining experience.

A Friendly Pup
During our meal, a playful dog approached us, prompting a brief hiatus in our feast. As I delightedly engaged with the furry visitor, I remained determined not to let the pup involve itself in our meal—a joy to see, but not at the expense of our food!

The Marvelous Waterfall Discovery
Despite the challenges we faced with our Airbnb reservation, we discovered a breathtaking waterfall the following day. Though it appeared significantly larger in person than on video, its refreshing beauty was undeniable. Just nearby, we spotted a sign indicating “Drinking Water,” a thoughtful touch for adventurers like us.

A Puzzle of Airbnb Reservations
Our travels didn’t come without their hiccups. We encountered a mix-up with our Airbnb booking, which landed us at a different address than intended. Frustrations mounted as we explained our predicament to various support agents, each time starting from scratch. Fortunately, Airbnb agreed to promptly refund us and cover a portion of our hotel costs, turning a stressful situation around swiftly.

Caution in the Skies
Later on during our trip, we had the opportunity to pilot our drone, capturing stunning visuals of quaint towns and natural landscapes. However, as we conversed with some delightfully friendly French travelers, we were reminded of drone regulations prohibiting captures of Greece’s archaeological sites—a wise rule to preserve the integrity of cultural heritage.

A Culinary Craving
As our gastronomic exploration continued, we yearned for sushi—a taste we missed dearly. Sadly, we scoured Nafplio without luck. It was surprising, given the abundance of fresh seafood at hand. Perhaps we will discover sushi once we reach Athens or even back home.

A Peculiar Night of Noises
One night, our TV turned on at full volume, startling us awake. With the remote too far to reach, we were left puzzled. I have my theories about this unexpected phenomenon, but some mysteries are better left unsolved.

In Search of Breakfast
We soon headed back to our favorite café for breakfast—affordably priced and tantalizingly delicious! Their vast milkshake selection was impressive, often costing more than the meals themselves. After refueling, we set our sights on climbing the Palamidi Castle, eager for breathtaking views and rewarding challenges.

Finding the Joy in Curiosities
During our stay, we also stumbled upon two bibles in different languages tucked away in a cabinet. Alongside complimentary toiletries, they felt like an unexpected welcome package. Should anyone need an exorcism while visiting, they’ve certainly got the essentials!

A Culinary Misadventure with Cactus
In my quest to discover unusual souvenirs, I suggested tasting cactuses. What began as a spirited decision turned into a gruesome battle with numerous spines, resulting in a painful experience as I removed countless splinters!

A Journey Full of Surprises
Every travel adventure is a mosaic of experiences—some delightful and some challenging. From our thrilling canyon views to misadventures with Airbnb, and from culinary explorations to engaging with new friends, our Greek journey was filled with memories that will last a lifetime.
