We have been regular guests at Filoxenia for over 20 years and intend to continue coming well into the future. This hotel is very well located just a 5 minute walk from restaurants which are nearly all located on the waters edge.
Our room was always well maintained by housekeeping and the owners and staff are very welcoming and helpful.
We enjoyed our breakfast every morning as the kitchen would always try to accommodate any special requests for us.
Overall our experience at the Filoxenia has always been a positive one.
Filoxenia Apartments is top value for money. The apartment (107) is one room, large and nicely located so we could look out the rear window at the sea, and at the other end is a balcony with seats and a drying rack. The bed is big and very comfortable. There is a lot of wardrobe space so you can unpack completely. The kitchen is basic but very handy with its fridge and sink and cooktop. The bathroom is large for Greece, with a proper vanity bench for the basin. Great hot water. The AC is really effective and we needed to run it all night because of the hot weather. Marianna and the family and staff were very friendly and helpful. They welcomed us like family and helped us with bags. Breakfast was delicious and to our preferences; muesli and yoghurt and fruit. All kinds of other foods were available; English, US and European tastes all provided for. The coffee, made for us personally, Greek style in the briki, was exceptional. We used the pool a lot, especially in the afternoon because it gets shade.
The hotel’s location in Agea Pelagia, is just a couple of minutes’ easy walk to the sea and only 25 minutes easy drive from the island’s airport. Many cafes and restaurants are within 200 metres. There is also a well-stocked general store, and a post office. The nearest ATM is 15 minutes’ drive at Potamos.

Filoxenia Apartments is our favourite place to stay on Kythira. I have stayed at this hotel three times and have never been disappointed with the experience. It is located five minutes’ walk from the beach and the shops and restaurants of Agia Pelagia. The pool area is calm and relaxed, with ample space for swimming and a mini-bar available throughout the day. Breakfast includes locally sourced products from Kythira. Moreover, the hotel is family-run with fantastic service offered by Marianna and George. If you decide to go to the island of Kythira to explore everything it has to offer, then Filoxenia Apartments is a high quality and good-value choice.
Right next to the beach. The rooms were squeaky clean and fully equipped. The buffet was more than enough, and everyone was super friendly. The owner in particular, Mr Kasimatis, is the sweetest man I have ever met other than my own father, and that says quite a lot.
