First, I must say that the maps at the entrance are severely lacking and difficult to understand. I was looking for the other Kouros (6), and I never found it. Decided to find the spring and couldn’t find it either. Found Faragi by accident. Sites of interest are not marked well, or at all.
Sites aside, the country is beautiful and great for photography if done in the morning or evening. I got some good drone flyovers of the orchards and main walled areas. The walk istelf is more of a stroll. Bring water and use sunscreen, especially if you’re from northern countries. Be prepared for injury by carrying first aid and going with someone if you’re not an experienced hiker.
Faragi Kouros is the second kouros and is difficult to find it! First of all take lot of water and have proper shoes. It is 15 minutes hill walking under the sun. You walk on the main path (concrete made) and you locate a fork path with a marble sign written with pen that indicate your direction to the right and up to hill. If you lose the sign the path ends after 50 meters. Stone made steps drives you to ancient quarry. You can stop here if you have already visit the first kouros and you dont want to get tired (and have a little adventure of course).
I think the second kouros has great archaeological interest but its not more exciting than the first one.
Nice but difficult to find due to lack of proper sighs.. these marvels of our past should be evaluated and treated with respect..
This is also a sample of our archeology offices which have no concern on how those sites are being projected to the world..
It’s a shame..
This statue is on a hillside. It is quite well signposted but at one point I wasn’t sure if I had gone the right way because the path became really bumpy. However I continued and after a short walk the path became even again. The statue is well preserved and the view across the countryside is stunning.
Worth seeing
Very remote location
Needs better signage
Local villager at the end selling home made products a bit dodgy
