We heard about the Apollos birth place ruins and decided to check it out. We booked with Delos tours online and it was real easy. Just have all members of your party’s passport info before you book. Once we booked we got our confirmation email and if you booked the guided tour , which I recommend they want you to fill out a form for the tour speaker. We were visiting and didn’t have a printer so we emailed them to let them know we would return it or pay and that seemed fine.
The dock is in the Venice area by Jackie Os yacht club. We also parked in the public lot by the police station and it was a short 15 min walk. Be sure to check in at the booth even if you got your tickets online.
Once we boarded and got underway it took about 30 mins to get there. Once off we met our guide and she brought the group in and walked us around for just over an hour and you have about an hour of free time after. You can take a later boat back if you choose and you’ll need a good amount of time if you want to see a lot. Overall great trip and highly recommend.
Recommend booking with get your guide to get the audio tour and includes ur ticket to the archaeological sites and museum. Also be prepared as it a remote island, need to pack water, sunscreen and hats. Its a very historical sacred place with a lot of history as Delos island is birthplace of Apollo and Artemis and home to the Naxos Lions!
We booked a 11:30 ferry to Delos with a 3:00 return to Mykonos on Sunday May 12, 2024. The sign at the dock had the 3:00 departure listed and the girl manning the dock information center confirmed the 3:00 time frame and our sea captain reassured us that we could return to Mykonos either at 1:30 or 3:00 when we departed the ferry that day. When we returned to the Delos dock at 3:00 a different sea captain refused to let us on board and became belligerent and started screaming at a group of 10+ people all intending to take the 3:00 ferry. He told us the 3:00 was cancelled and we would have to sit on the hot dock without water or food for another 2 hours. No attempt was made to apologize or call the ferry office, he just became more aggressive and threatening. It was our worst experience in Greece. Obviously they decided to cancel the ferry last minute because there were few people and they didn’t want to waste the fuel. I understand you have to make money but why can’t you respect your customers and communicate the information before the last minute. Please choose a different company that understands that courtesy in the hospitality business is essential.
The island was absolute great. We did not know that at Delos we also had to buy a ticket to get on the island. Its just 8 euro but woud be nice to be informed upfront. Also good to know… there is nothing on the island to buy…no drinks…no food…so bring your own. Especially water!!!
Delos is definitely worth the visit, and this is one of the few ways to get to the Island. Boats were on time and had a snack bar and toilets on board. Unfortunately didn’t give a 5 star review as the lady at the counter was quite rude to us and the lady in front of us. Also, the boat schedules are limited, so check for the specific day you’d need in advance to make sure you’re there on time for the departure.
