A fantastic collection of Asian antiquity, all set within a beautiful old building.
As you move through the museum’s upper floor, as directed by the occasional concierge, you gradually move from country to counrty. We started off in China, then moved to Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, and so on. The collection consists mainly of tapestries, pottery, small statues, art work, etc.
The lower floor will take less time as it’s dedicated to presentations of several splendid old rooms, including a breathtaking domed gallery.
The artifacts were numbered, and the associated descriptions are in both Greek and English. Some of the exhibits were over 2,000 years old. Just incredible.
It took us just over an hour to see the full collection and is a great way to fill time or escape the heat or rain.
We paid €6 each for adults.
We visited here on a Tuesday late afternoon. Wonderful building at the top of town and greeted by an extremely friendly receptionist.
Entry price is very low, 6 euros for adult and 3 euros for ages 6-25. But only if you’re in the EU.
Inside the artifacts and information on display are superb. We spent about 2 hours here and enjoyed all the exhibits.
The pottery and samurai sections were probably the highlights for me.
Very interesting and enjoyable experience. Artifacts from all over Asia with clear descriptions in both Greek and English. Sometimes the layout of particulars sections is a littledifficilt to follow but staff are there to direct. This in no way detracted from the enjoyment.
An interesting museum showing the history of Asia and its diverse cultures. Balanced focus on various countries which form the Asian landscape with original exhibitions. Copies are very rare. I learned about a lot of new things, for example Greek influences in India from the times of Alexander the Great.
Amazing museum! Brill displays of all types of Asian art. Worth a visit if you’re in Corfu old town. We would visit this museum again in future. Lot’s of detail regarding various Asian cultures!
