Very down-to-earth and not pretentious, this restaurant is located in the old town of Chania. The food is delicious, and the prices are affordable. The staff were very friendly. Many thanks for the lovely time in your restaurant.
We are in love with this place, the food was sooooo good! The staff were super friendly, big portions and not expensive! Will be back for sure!
Dining at Chrisostomos is truly delightful. The servers’ pride and dedication in passionately explaining the authentic Cretan cuisine are evident. We enjoyed a sumptuous meal at an excellent price, leaving with the satisfaction of supporting the local economy. It was a great meal with a fabulous atmosphere.
I cannot give a higher rating to this place even though the food was really good, but the service really spoiled our whole experience.
It started well with a very nice waiter who listened and helped us in our selections. But it went downhill after that. We had specifically requested that our main dish not be served before we had finished our appetizers, and the waiter told us he would personally make sure of it. Well, that didn’t work out as planned… we were barely halfway through our appetizers when we were presented with the main course. They corrected their error, but after this “incident” we never saw our waiter again. Or rather, we saw him running around between three different areas of the restaurant: outside on the street, in the patio where we were, and inside. Seemed like poor restaurant management to have a waiter covering so much territory instead of concentrating on one area.
The other unpleasant experience is that we were seated at a table by the outside door; it was very cold outside and several staff members kept the door open for a very long time right behind my back while they were talking to people outside. We asked if they could close the door more promptly, but they kept doing it.
No complaints about the food, I am no expert in traditional Greek/Cretan food, but everything was tasty and the portions generous. At the end of the meal, we were treated with freshly made loukoumades and a generous serving of Metaxa. Had to wait a very long time to get a waiter’s attention to get the bill, but we eventually managed.
There are so many choices of restaurants in Chania, I wouldn’t go back there.
This restaurant was packed at 6:00 pm. We were in various parts of Greece over our 3 week vacation, and this was easily one of our favorite meals. It’s so sad they don’t have a location in South Florida 😉
