Some of the best food I had in Crete was at this restaurant. The greek salad is absolutely delicious! Best one I’ve had ever. For dinner I had the seafood orzo which was the best tasting thing I’d eaten during my 10 days in Greece. The service was absolutely amazing. Very attentive, friendly and patient. Not fast like I’m used to in the states, but this is something to expect in Greece, and it’s better not feeling like you have to hurry up eat and get out. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. You look up and see the sky. Very romantic place for dinner, or sit outside under the plant canopy and listening to random street performers is wonderful too. Great evening and glad we stumbled upon this restaurant.

During our week-long stay in Rethimno old town we must’ve eaten at a dozen restaurants and I think Castelo was probably one of the best.
The best in terms of quality of produce, presentation, value-for-money and portion size. It was incredible value – and the menu is probably one of the best in town. Apart from the “deconstructed” moussaka. Some things are best left alone.
Example, the chicken skewers I ordered..stunningly tasty…and for only €12.50 it was a huge meal..a real bargain. I’d have happily paid €20 for such a great dish.
I’d highly recommend it – so much so that we’d really quite like to go back tomorrow!
Wow wow wow! This place is incredible! It’s super kid friendly with kid chairs, colored pencils and coloring books. They have several items on the menu that they can alter and make a half portion for kids. They also bring kids silverware, plates and cups!! For adults, you are in for a treat! The food is local and incredible!! You can’t go wrong with the menu!! The staff is so accommodating and friendly! It was my favorite meal of the trip!! Delicious flavors and fresh food!!
