A place where you can be just like home.
We were surprised that, from the moment we stepped in the beautiful garden, we were greeted by a wonderful and simple family ( and their cutest dog 🐕❤️).
Be aware that there is no menu, just the host coming at your table with a piece of paper and a pen, telling you what they have today in the menu. Don’t worry, there are several options, from chicken, to pork, and specialties such as lamb and rabbit. The products are from the village or from the family’s garden ( nice to try the wine and raki as well, homemade product!)

Excellent meal cooked by Vasillis and his wife. This is the most “home-cooked” meal that I had in Crete and I loved that about it. There was no menu, just a list of 5-7 things that they could make. Super kid friendly too, and they thought hard about what a four year old would most like.
In the end, the lamb in lemon sauce was excellent, they had a Greek type of ratatouille that was also top notch, and great courgette flowers stuffed with cheese and fried.
The meatballs were a bit dry/firm, but were clearly handmade and of great quality.
There are a couple of dogs on the property too, which I really enjoyed having around, “pot” and “Irma”, very friendly and added family energy to the place.
Very authentic tavern with a small but very tasty menu. Vasilis is a kind and welcoming host, would definitely come back in the future.
No standard international food s**t in this place. You are served the chicken and the rabbit raised in the husband’s farm! Don’t ask for American coffee or Italian ristretto. You’ll get the greek coffee. And yes, that’s some of the best food on earth! Including amazing fried potatoes (says a Belgian raised in the land of the industrial Fries).
No paper menu(dishes change), only cash. And really lost in middle of Crete. But if you went that far, I can only advise to take the time to try this.
This is a hidden gem ! It has the best food, people and location in Crete. My friends and i had some lovely dinner times with everything you could wish for. Especially the Moussaka is amazing.
