The grilled sea bream and lemon juice were delicious! Love that the lemon juice was pure and fresh – no sugar added if you didn’t want it. We got some other starter dishes as well and everything was good, but these two were the standouts for me. Simple but delicious!
Calypso is a lovely, peaceful, warm place looking out onto the beach and tiny quay. Antonis is a warm and welcoming host who ensures that all his guests are well looked after. I ordered his calamari more than once, it was so fresh and delicious! If you can be there at 9pm you can hear his talented playing of the Cretan Lyre. Room was basic but clean and spacious with a gorgeous view of the beach from the balcony. The fridge was a nice touch to store cold drinks.
We chose this place because of the ratings. Prices are higher than in the center of Chania, but the food itself is tasty. We ordered Greek salad, souvlaki, moussake and house wine. Everything met our expectations, unfortunately the atmosphere was spoiled by unequal treatment of guests. Being accustomed to Greek hospitality, while waiting for the bill, we noticed that the guests received rakje at the end, we did not receive it, nor did the guests from the next table. However, two more tables were given (some guests even refused and said they would not drink). What is the reason for such a difference in the treatment of guests?
This is is the best restaurant in Agia Roumeli. The dishes are all very delicious and service perfect by the family owners. We didn’t stay in the hotel, but during our 6 day stay in Agia Roumeli it became our favorite restaurant from breakfast to dinner.

What a lovely hotel. The people are so friendly, the rooms are recently renovated with great furnishings, comfy beds, lovely bathroom, so clean and the restaurant has good food with homemade apple pie and marmalade, jams and more.
