Explore the Bellagio Luxury Boutique Hotel: A Tourist’s Preview
Welcome to the Bellagio Luxury Boutique Hotel
Nestled in the heart of Rethymno, the Bellagio Luxury Boutique Hotel has captured the attention of travelers seeking a blend of luxury and the charm of historical architecture. While this captivating destination has its unique allure, an emerging theme in guest feedback reveals a blend of praise and concerns that may impact your stay experience.
First Impressions Matter
Imagine arriving after a grueling journey, only to be met by an unenthusiastic reception. Mike Askew’s review highlights a rather lukewarm welcome that detracted from his anticipation. A warm greeting can set the tone for an enjoyable stay, and initial experiences can often linger in the minds of travelers.
Ants and Flies: A Room with Unwanted Guests
Upon opening the door to one’s room, the last thing expected is a swarm of flies and ants! Mike’s experience illustrated significant room cleanliness issues, raising concerns for those highly valuing hygiene during their accommodations. This is a critical point to consider for potential guests.
Disappointing Amenities: A Letdown for Relaxation
For visitors seeking relaxation, amenities like the hammam and hydromassage can be a highlight. However, Panagiota Soura’s disappointment in the non-functioning hammam due to COVID-19 restrictions serves as a reminder to verify the availability of amenities before booking your dream getaway.
Cleanliness Concerns: Mold and Maintenance
A pristine environment is indispensable in a luxury escape. Panagiota’s remarks regarding visible mold under the sink illustrate a flaw that could significantly detract from a peaceful stay. Cleanliness should always be a priority for visitors seeking to unwind and enjoy their surroundings.
Sleep Quality: The Sound of Disappointment
An ideal stay is often defined by restful nights. Guests have reported various noises disrupting their sleep, from loud music to hallway chatter. As one traveler pointed out, the cacophony outside their door can overshadow even the most comfortable accommodation.
A Breakfast Below Expectations
Breakfast can be a delightful start to the day or a missed opportunity. Both Panagiota and Claire noted that the breakfast offerings failed to impress. Ensuring that guests begin each day with a nourishing meal should be a priority for any high-end boutique hotel.
Air Conditioning Woes: The Comfort Factor
A comfortable room temperature is essential, particularly in warmer climates. Multiple guests mentioned malfunctioning or ineffective air conditioning systems that made for an uncomfortable stay. When booking, always inquire about the current functionality of essential features like HVAC systems.
Room Quality: A Mixed Bag
While not every review was negative, the contrasts in room quality highlight the variability of guest experiences at the Bellagio. Some guests reported comfy beds and well-functioning amenities, while others faced uncomfortable setups, showcasing the need for consistent quality across the board.
Staff Attitudes: The Human Touch
The attitude of staff can significantly affect your holiday experience. While some guests extolled the friendliness of the staff, others were met with indifference. Each visitor deserves attentive service that reflects the establishment’s reputation as a luxury destination.
The Allure of Location: Old Town Charm
Despite mixed reviews, the hotel’s location in the old town of Rethymno is a tempting draw for many visitors. The charming surroundings, blending historical allure with trendy boutiques and restaurants, make it an enticing area to explore and enjoy local culture.
A Balancing Act: Feedback for Improvement
While the Bellagio Luxury Boutique Hotel presents unique opportunities for tourists, guest feedback reveals crucial areas for improvement. Addressing cleanliness, maintenance, staff training, and amenity functionality are essential for enhancing the overall visitor experience.
Bridging the Gap: Guests’ Voices Matter
Tourists play a significant role in helping hotels improve through reviews. Engaging with guest feedback allows for the fine-tuning of service and amenities, facilitating positive experiences that align more closely with visitor expectations.
A Desired Destination: The Potential of Bellagio
The Bellagio Luxury Boutique Hotel stands as a potential destination for tourists drawn to the beauty and history of Rethymno. With some concerted effort to address the concerns raised by guests, it could become the ultimate choice for travelers seeking comfort and luxury.
Your Adventure Awaits
Considering a trip to Rethymno? Keep an open mind and prioritize research. While the Bellagio might have its challenges, it holds the promise of an unforgettable experience in a beautiful location. A little foresight can ensure that your stay is as splendid as the destination itself.

Had to double-check that the online reviews were of the same place we stayed. Greeted (if that’s the right word) by a grumpy chap who just grunted and pointed us to the room. Having read about the ‘wonderful hosts’ in a lot of the reviews and arriving mid-afternoon after travelling for 10 hours, we were hopeful of a slightly more enthusiastic welcome. Had we arrived at 2am and been checked in by the night porter, I could have understood the indifferent welcome. A collection of flies were already in the room when we opened the door, along with a small army of ants on the floor. It smelled like the room hadn’t been used for years. Tried to call down to reception but the phone was dead. Walked down to reception, waited 5 minutes for someone to arrive but gave up. Handed our key in and walked to the nearby Rimondi who couldn’t have been more helpful and found us a room for the week despite being full. Emailed the Bellagio to explain why we’d left, but got nothing back.
I recently stayed at a 5-star hotel in Rethymno and was extremely disappointed with my experience. Upon arriving at the hotel, I discovered that the hammam was not functioning due to COVID-19 restrictions. Additionally, the hydromassage in my room did not have any safety protection covers, which was a concern for me.
Furthermore, when I checked the bathroom, I noticed that the wooden panel under the sink had visible mold on it. This was not only unsightly, but it also raised concerns about the overall cleanliness of the room.
During my stay, there was a bar located near my room that played loud music until 3am, making it difficult for me to get a good night’s sleep. To make matters worse, the mattress in my room was extremely uncomfortable, and I struggled to get a good night’s sleep.
The breakfast offered at the hotel was also not up to par for a 5-star establishment. The selection was limited and the quality of the food was not at the level I was expecting.
In addition to these issues, the noise level in the hotel was very high, and I could easily hear other guests walking by my room. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel and do not feel that it was worth the money I paid. The lack of functioning amenities, cleanliness issues, and noise level were all major concerns for me. I would not recommend this hotel to others.
Very cute place with great interior. However, the AC in our windowless room did not do its job (more like a weak fan). It was warmer and more humid in our room than outside. Although a different room was available, we were not upgraded to that room free of charge.
Not a good experience at all. Our AC didn’t work, the room was hotter than the outside air. Our only window opened into the hotel lobby/stair corridor and if we wanted to open that the fresh air we got was filled with cigarette smoke from the owner smoking in the foyer below our room. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the pillows did not help. We were aware we’d be staying in the main area but the sound was still pretty bad throughout most of the night. We had a white noise sound going and ear plugs and still could not drown it out. We couldn’t switch rooms unless we paid for an upgrade. Would not recommend.
Super cozy hotel, perfect location in the middle of the old town. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was not super special, but fine. The room was great, super nice bed (slept like a baby), AC was working again. Would definitely recommend and hope to be able to come back one day!
