I have to be honest we stayed in so called apartment 8. The place is in dire need of updating. The mold around the shower is disgusting also black thick mold in corners and sewage smell in shower room was awful complete with broken toilet seat. So called kitchenette has only 1 hob ring and 1 for coffee pot with a few utensils. The living room has a table with 4 chairs and a bunk bed for a sofa. We were to worried about using the air conditioning system due to the dust a fifth on the inside and having broken Louvre vents. Loads of Mosquitoes and no net over bed, made worse by the over grown flower beds outside the door. I asked to be moved but the lady owner said the apartments are all the same. We booked through Tui and didn’t have the funds to pay for an alternative hotel. We did research before ie photos and 4.1 * rated that is very misleading.
This trip was booked through TUI so you can imagine the flight times.
We arrived very late on 4th May. 23:45 to be precise and only 15 mins until the Greek Orthodox Easter. Nikos and Popi quickly checked us in so that they could engage in their traditional celebrations with the family at the stroke of midnight. To our surprise, they invited my wife and I to also join in by cracking some hard-boiled eggs with them. Nikos also made us some food despite the late hour.
This warm welcome got the holiday off to the best start and despite the long day of travel, we felt energised.
Yes, the rooms are more basic than hotels you might have stayed in before but, they were clean and well maintained throughout our two weeks stay.
The pool and bar are great, and all of the staff made you feel welcome, always with a smile on their faces. At this time of year, the pool was a little chilly however, it did heat up over the two weeks. I found the sea was warmer.
Nikos is a great chef too and every meal we had at Aspro Spiti was very tasty. If you are to believe Popi though, he’s a bit messy in the kitchen.
As other people have mentioned in their reviews, it’s a real family affair and during the Easter Sunday festivities, we got to meet four generations of both Nikos and Popi’s families as well as celebrate Nikos’s mum’s birthday. We were lucky to have some traditional Easter lamb that cooked all morning on the spit as well as some amazing cake, made for the birthday girl.
Nikos is also a fountain of knowledge and recommended many activities to do on the island which both my wife and I enjoyed thoroughly.
Overall, we had an amazing time at Aspro Spiti and we will definitely be going back soon.
For a 3 star hotel this ticked every box we needed as a family of 4 (children 11 and 10).
The rooms are spacious and we’re cleaned 6/7 days (not Sunday). The balconies and other areas where cleaned as well.
The bar served everything from local to imported drinks including Alcohol Free drinks at a reasonable price.
The food on offer was a breakfast (we never got up for it) lunch (we ate here 3 times for lunch) and evening (which you need to book a day in advance). The staff have been amazing throughout and allowed us to utilise a tab on our room for drinks and food. Which allowed our girls to get drinks/ice cream as required.
The pool was cleaned every evening and was always immaculate during our stay. There is pool music around the bar area which wasn’t too loud mainly 80s and 90s.
I asked for the F1 to be put on the TV and the owner Nikos got it for me, which was a nice treat.
I cannot rate this place enough! My mum took my here for four nights to celebrate my 19th Birthday 🙂
Cons:
– The beds were a little uncomfy
– It can be a bit noisy at night
– Air Con costs extra, but it’s only €8 a night
Pros:
– Nicos and Popi are such wonderful hosts! Always checking we had everything we need. So friendly! Not to mention their wee puppy Hermes is so friendly to meet guests!
– The pool is pretty big, a shallow end and a deep end, good for laps and relaxing.
– PRIME location. There is literally a supermarket next door and it’s a ten minute walk from the beach/town.
– The rooms are spacious and they layout is amazing.
– The whole aesthetic and vibe were so nice.
This place is a little hidden part of paradise, truly amazing. Once again I must say Nicos and Popi were amazing hosts and I, one million percent, will be visiting here again and I recommend everyone else to do the same ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Just returned from a week at Aspro Spiti and it is a tranquil piece of Paradise. The pool is very clean, large enough to swim lengths, with a shallow and deep end, subtle and not blaring music. There are private and public showers next to the pool. Our room was spacious and clean with very comfortable beds, and the shower was excellent. Liquid hand soap is provided at the bathroom sink. We had a new looking kettle, clean fridge, microwave, hob, crockery and cutlery, washing up liquid and a clean dish scrubber. The hotel has a large herb garden and stunning flowers. There is a very sweet dog called Hermes. There is also a book exchange that guests can borrow from freely. There is WiFi around the pool and in the snack bar or reception area. The maid came every day except Sunday and supplied clean sheets and towels mid-week. Nearby you can visit the tavernas, walk down to the beach or walk down the side road to the salt lake, which is a beautiful evening walk coming out near the beach. There is a large supermarket next door and a bus stop to Kos town right beside it. One day I would love to return to this place, it was sad to have to leave and we could have happily stayed another week or two. Being a keen swimmer, I spent most of the last day in the pool and left one of my swimming costumes to dry, then forgot it 🙄 I hope the very pleasant owners can use it as a spare. Thank you very much for your hospitality.
