We had a great stay over a long weekend during August. Anna and Manolis were very caring hosts, checking daily if we had everything we needed and providing suggestions for tourism around the local area in Crete.
The rooms are very spacious (they’re actually small apartments – bedroom, bathroom, living room) and maintained well.
The location was also nice, as the town Arhanes is very scenic and has many cafés/bars for those wanting to stay locally.
We rented a car for our visit, as we wanted to go to a different beach each day – we would recommend Chelodin beach around 25 minutes away (make sure to arrive latest by 11am for a good spot).
Overall, we would recommend Villa Arhontiko to anyone visiting Crete!
The owners are very friendly and the service is excelent. The village is wonderfull and beautifull. The rooms were incredible confortable.
Lovely and charming, spacious and clean. Great value if staying and exploring Archanes and Knossos, or if you want a ce more authentic Crete experience than what you could find in nearby Heraklion. We stayed three nights. Our only complaints were the 1) continental breakfast. It was provided the first day, but the second day I had to ask. Third day it was provided. Store-bought bread, nothing homemade. 2) they wanted us to pay cash, saying that they had problems at their bank and couldn’t take credit cards. It seemed plausible until one thinks about all the technological advances we have. We would stay there again and recommend to friends — just be prepared to pay cash.
We were pleasantly surprised by how luxurious the place was. It’s graceful and incredibly beautiful. Anna’s mom does not speak any English but the beauty of the garden is her credit. And the view from the balcony was wonderful as Arhontiko perches at the highest point in Archanes.
Beatiful lodge in stone, traditional furniture, a welcome raki and nuts is waiting for you and a nice yard outside to enjoy your morning coffee under a tangerine tree, with local kaltsounakia with cheese and honey prepared on the spot by the owner’s wife. Village is not that interesting.
