Can you believe free to enter. Wonderful building. I remember reading how Princess Margaret would regularly take her children to museums/galleries interest them in one or two displays and leave. Magical place. Exceptional views of the harbour and beyond.
It’s a short but sweet visit; well worth it. The items on display are very well presented, and the museum is well kept. Step into the world of Ancient Greece and take it all in.
I felt like I was visiting a modern art museum. I think an archaeological museum of such an ancient history dating back to almost the beginning of civilization should be more magnificent. In fact, there are very impressive parts inside, for example, the fact that the Corfu coin has been found almost all over the world is a clear indication of how advanced trade was. At the entrance to the museum, there is a statue of Hercules emerging from the sea, where and how did it come from, I think it is quite intriguing but there is no detail. As I said, it could have been much more impressive, but thank you very much for the efforts, it is a very important museum, you should visit it.
Worth a visit. Interesting museum about archaeological discoveries in Corfu, from a very early human stage. Lots of interesting pieces with explanation to understand how was the life at that time.
The museum is clean, spacious and with lots of screens and mural explanations .
If you are into archeological objects and enjoy history, this is a really nice spot. It also has a lot of information on greek mythology and artifacts etc. It especially has a lot of objects in reference to Artemis and Hercules. Medusa was also a prominent feature amongst the artifacts. It’s a very small collection and you can easily go through everything within an hour.
