Disappointing Stay Despite the Good Reviews – Would Not Recommend
I recently stayed at the Amira in August based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews, but unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. While the hotel itself is aesthetically pleasing, I encountered several issues that made my stay uncomfortable and frustrating.
To start, the staff’s attitude was quite cold and dismissive, which immediately set a negative tone. While others seem to have had wonderful interactions, I felt that certain members of the staff were not as welcoming or accommodating as they should have been. On multiple occasions, I sensed an undertone of unfriendliness, if not outright rudeness. At times, I couldn’t help but feel that there was an underlying bias in the way I was treated compared to other guests. This is not something I take lightly, and it left a bad taste in my mouth. I can’t be sure if this was intentional, but the difference in their demeanor was noticeable enough to affect my overall experience.
Additionally, requests such as towels for the pool or orange juice at breakfast (which other guests were provided) were ignored. When I brought this up, the responses were curt and unhelpful, which only added to my discomfort. The inconsistency in service is baffling, especially when other reviews speak so highly of the staff and management. It makes me wonder whether certain guests are treated better than others.
While the hotel has potential, I cannot recommend it based on my stay. The hospitality industry should be about making every guest feel welcomed and valued, and unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for me here. I’m glad others had a good time, but if you’re someone who values respectful and equal treatment, you might want to think twice before booking.
Modern, luxurious and beautiful resort. We felt welcomed since the moment we arrived. The staff was super professional, friendly and efficient, they accommodated our special request and made our short vacation a blast. The room was well appointed with a magnificent view, breakfast buffet out of this world. The beach is a little bit rocky but we loved the waves, the service at the beach area was of excellence. We will definitely come back to Crete and will stay at this resort, next time it will be longer.
This is my second time here, after a very good experience last summer, I decided to come back this summer too.
The hotel is very luxurious and welcoming, staff are very friendly!
The rooms, the pool, the yard, the private beach, the restaurant, everything is so pampered and well done!
The only disadvantage is the location, it’s one hour drive from the airport and there’re no restaurants (with good food) or bars in this area, so in case you want to hang out or have dinner you should take a taxi…
Overall, If you’re looking for a relaxing and luxury vacation this is the place!
We loved everything about this resort. It was our 20 year anniversary and they upgraded us to a suite and had champagne and wine with a small cake. The resort is beautiful and right in the water. The rooms were spacious and modern with a bit complicated ways of turning things off and on. The breakfast buffet was amazing. The best of all the high end places we stayed in Greece. The Amira a la carte restaurant was soooo good. We loved everything about our stay here. We wished we had more time but Crete had so much to offer we didn’t stay at the resort as much as we should have. Highly recommend.
With sadness, I’m checking out today but I really don’t want to.
It really has been a perfect week.
The reception was incredible. We arrived late and there were some tortillas waiting for us in our room and also welcoming drinks and fruits.
Everything is clean, beds are soft and comfy, rooms are modern, showers are great, AC is good.
The service, foods, dinner, everything 5 start worthy.
It really is an amazing place to rest, with the bottom of my heart, greatest thanks for everything.
