Aegean Pearl

Welcome to the Aegean Pearl: Your Guide to Tigaki’s Hidden Gem

Tigaki, located on the stunning island of Kos, Greece, boasts a rich tapestry of culture and breathtaking landscapes. At the heart of this quaint resort lies the Aegean Pearl, a family-run hotel that invites visitors to experience the charm of island life. Renowned for its proximity to beautiful beaches and local attractions, the Aegean Pearl offers a delightful base for your explorations. However, before you pack your bags, let’s delve into some of the key aspects that previous guests have highlighted through their reviews.

When it comes to the Aegean Pearl, one element that consistently receives praise is the warm demeanor of the staff. Many guests, including Niki Järvinen, have found the reception and service pleasant, with commendations for hardworking team members like Georgina and Rena. The friendly atmosphere creates a welcoming environment for tourists seeking a family-friendly ambiance. However, it is essential to note that while the staff’s dedication shines through, guests have reported concerns regarding the hotel’s overall management and cleanliness, particularly in communal areas like the pool.

Many visitors have expressed disappointment in the hotel’s amenities, notably the all-inclusive package. Reviews from guests like Lukas Vaisvila and Jack Webb highlight unexpected extra costs, such as air conditioning fees and an incomplete all-inclusive drink selection. This can lead to confusion and dissatisfaction, especially for families planning their budgets for a relaxing getaway. The pool area, which should serve as a highlight of any resort experience, has also drawn criticism for its cleanliness and maintenance, leading some guests to opt for local dining options instead.

Dining experiences at the Aegean Pearl have generated mixed feedback. While some guests enjoyed the opportunity to explore local restaurants, others noted dissatisfaction with the on-site food quality. Several reviews mention cold meals and limited options available in the all-inclusive menu, prompting Guests like Sandra Herron to seek culinary delights in nearby eateries. For those who relish discovering local cuisine, Tigaki’s nearby restaurants present a fantastic alternative to the hotel’s offerings, ensuring a memorable gastronomic experience.

Even though the Aegean Pearl has its drawbacks, it is important to highlight the island’s overall accessibility and the positive experiences shared by some guests. Delia Havelot captured the hotel’s charm beautifully, noting its friendly service and convenient location just a 10-minute walk from the village and beach. Such proximity allows tourists to explore Tigaki and experience its rich local culture, vibrant markets, and stunning sandy shores. For those who seek a mix of relaxation and exploration, the location of the Aegean Pearl serves as a promising starting point.

Let’s be clear: potential visitors should weigh the feedback they come across thoroughly. While some reviews express significant concerns related to the hotel’s maintenance and food quality, others highlight the charm of the friendly staff and strategic location. Every traveler has unique expectations, so what might be a setback for one could easily be an acceptable feature for another.

In summary, the Aegean Pearl offers a blend of warm hospitality and an idyllic location in the lovely village of Tigaki. Before making a reservation, it is crucial to consider the range of experiences shared by past guests. For those prioritizing location and the opportunity to engage with a friendly team, the Aegean Pearl might still hold some allure. 1. The reception was pleasant. The staff as well. A little could be invested in the cleanliness of the pool and the food. A themed evening would also have been a great experience. Red wine tasted bad and Pepsi lacked acid.

  2. Where do I start… right from the entrance to the hotel the check in was meant to be from 2pm, but we did not get checked in until 3:20pm due to staff shortages. While waiting, we discovered that the ‘all inclusive’ is not so all inclusive: only applies to beer, wine and soft drinks. As we got checked in, we were told that the air conditioning was at an extra €7 per night, if you don’t opt for it it will be impossible to sleep. So that’s €50 extra to the all inclusive. The rooms haven’t been updated in god knows how long, one out of four plugs did not work, phone cable hanging out of the wall, furniture has had its time, the bathroom is incredibly old with a hand held shower head, limescale on absolutely everything, a toilet which leaks and smells, a drain in the middle of the bathroom which is 4cm deep and dangerous. The all inclusive food is not great, it’s usually cold or super greasy with very limited options available, so we end up having to eat out costing us a fortune on top of the holiday which wasn’t so cheap after all. We then came to the pool which was not cleared and full of rubbish and the water is not so clear, our friend tried to approach the pool and fell through the overfill grilles at 8:50am one morning, waited for an ice pack until 9:23am and then a lady finally came to see us saying that the owner is on its way at 9:32am. Now I am writing this at 10:50 and the owner is still not here… this is a massively understaffed hotel all run by a family. Don’t get me wrong, the staff are very lovely, especially Georgina who is here all day every day and Rena who tries very hard helping out her friends. There just isn’t enough staff, hotel is not worth 3 stars, avoid if you can.

  3. I honestly do not know where to start with this. Day 1 when arriving at the hotel to check in at 15:30 we were told our rooms were not ready and wouldn’t be even though check in is from 1400. When collecting our room keys we were then told we had to pay an extra €7 per day for air con …. Which is not included on any website. We had to pay it. The pool would be open all hours of the day, just the pool bar would open from 10:00 for drinks. Whilst waiting for our room we ordered some drinks but told that no spirits all bar Brandy and Ouzo were included in the not so ‘all inclusive’ and you had to pay for them … never had that before!

Day 2: we decided to try out the pool for the day so in the morning we went down for 08:30 to put our towels down on the sun loungers. When walking over to the sun loungers I tripped on the lose water overfill grates along the pool, ended up in all of the drainage, twisted my ankle and cut my shin. My girlfriend went to grab a member of staff called Rena to take a look at the scene and the damage caused to grab some ice but it took 40 minutes to arrive as Rena was also checking out guests at the reception. Luckily, our friends went to chase the ice pack up otherwise it could have been longer. We were informed that the owner was on his way to look at the damage and to talk with us …..We waited 2 hours. Then we were informed that he wouldn’t be arriving until the evening so clearly wasn’t bothered about the health and safety hazard at the hotel or even his guests. After struggling all day walking into the nearest town buying ice packs all day to reduce the swelling, we returned to the hotel to speak to the owner. He refused to speak to us and made Georgina the receptionist speak to us for him. They accused me of lying, said that my accident was my fault, not their responsibility, I need to look where I am going as I am not a child and not even an apology …. Wow! The owner ran off flinging his arms in the air so I asked him to come back to have a conversation about these events but he locked himself in his office still refusing to speak to me. It just gets better! The hotel refused to do anything about this, didn’t repair the overflow grate, wouldn’t issue any form of compensation (maybe the air-con money back which the cleaners turn off when they come into your room) or even offer to help me up the hotel steps to my room. From then on, the staff wouldn’t speak to our friends, my girlfriend or myself unless we went to order drinks. They made it extremely uncomfortable for us to be at the hotel and created a hostile environment for us. Even the 10 year old that serves you the drinks at the bar had more conversation (this isn’t an exaggeration he is literally 10 years old).

The following evening, sat down outside enjoying a drink trying to make the most of what we have paid for, the owner proceeds to storm over to one of my friends, and got extremely aggressive towards him for taking a photo to send to his friend. Out of order! Georgina then comes out to see us asking why we are taking photos (we are on holiday of course we are going to do this ….) stating that we don’t want any trouble …. It’s just got even more hostile for us to be at this hotel that’s for sure. We had to eat out for all of our meals as the food included was just stone cold and just inedible and even having to have drinks out each night as we just couldn’t stay there.

To cut this already long story short, don’t go here. We have taken the necessary photos, got witness information to the person who witnessed my fall as well. We have already contacted LoveHolidays to get our money back as the hotel just do not deserve our hard earned money.

  4. Sorry for the long review. This was not the holiday we expected.

The food was cold and at best average, we ended up going out most evenings for some lovely meals.

The rooms are not up to standard, dirty bathroom fittings with nowhere to put toiletries etc. Shower facilities were totally inadequate and bathroom was small overall.

The bedding and towels are laundered but stained and marked. The mattress was very hard.

The drinks ‘package’ in the AI is extremely limited and there are no snacks in-between main mail serving times.

The pool and pool area was not very well maintained so we didn’t use it and pool bar was not open, tho you could use the main bar.

We eventually moved at our own expense to the amazing Sunshine hotel just down the road (as others did at similar time) so that we could get some sleep and decent food.

The main reason we moved was due to the fact that we had cockroachs in the room and bathroom which is extremely bad for your health and sanity!!

I would not recommend this hotel especially if you have children.

The family running the hotel are friendly and did try to rectify several issues for us but after we had been in our 3rd room in 6 nights my nerves could take no more!!

Tigaki itself is a laid back friendly resort.

  5. Lovely hotel small and freindly. Family run Staff were very accommodating. Must say though that the food could do with some improvement. 10min walk to village and beach. And the bakery next door is fantastic.
