Special calm place
To get to the cave, from the main road, follow the sign to St. Antoni. At the end of the hill there is another signpost in the same direction. From this point on, stick to the main road. Along the way, see a shrine built into the rock. After reaching the next peak, you will see a pointer to Antoni. The cave itself seems a bit “entertaining”. What I mean is the words “our people were here. There is a bench outside, and there is also a place to rest inside. Don’t rely on Google maps. It’s worth it.
A very atmospheric place, a quiet trail from old Karlovasi leads to it. I do not recommend following the directions on Google maps, but when leaving the city, follow trail no. 4, which leads almost straight to the cave. On the way you pass two small churches. A dark, low cave, with an altar at the end. It makes a huge impression, although I associated it more with some dark horror than with spirituality 😅 nevertheless – I highly recommend it. Nice trip.

You can’t find the cave via Google Maps, but the path is easy if you follow hiking trail 4 and the signs to Aghios Antonious at the small platia in Paleo Karlovasi. On this path you will first find the small church of St. Isidorus on the right and shortly afterwards another one, which is nestled closely against the mountain.
The path is not too difficult.
The cave itself is theoretically equipped with lighting, but it didn’t work today (06/23). It is advisable to take flashlights or headlamps with you if you want to discover the beauty of the stalactite formations. My personal highlight were the small “vampire” or “bat” stalactites and the “shark teeth”.
It’s worth giving this place some attention and some time. Anyone who can open up can take a seat at the chapel in complete darkness and listen to the silence and their own inner being. The magic is felt by those who are ready for it.
