Welcome to Skiathos Palace Hotel: A Mixed Bag of Experiences
Stunning Views Await You
The Skiathos Palace Hotel is renowned for its breathtaking vistas. Guests often highlight the stunning pool area, offering panoramic views of the nearby landscape and beaches, making it the ideal spot for relaxation and sunbathing.
The Highlight of Your Stay: The Pool Area
Guests rave about the pool area, often regarded as the crown jewel of the hotel. Picture yourself lounging by the pool, sipping a cold beverage, and soaking in the magnificent views—it’s a perfect way to enjoy the Greek sun.
A Dated Experience
Unfortunately, many visitors have pointed out that the overall condition of the hotel rooms leaves much to be desired. The décor is described as dated, and several reviews suggest that the hotel is due for a thorough refurbishment.
Staff Service That Falls Flat
Another recurring theme among guest reviews is the unhelpful and sometimes rude attitude of the staff. While the cleaning personnel receive positive commendations, other staff members have been noted as less than friendly, potentially impacting your stay.
A Colorful Ambience… Or Not?
The unique fluorescent pink and green lighting in the hallways may come as a surprise. While some may find it quirky, others perceive it as cheap and uninviting, setting an unusual tone for your guest experience.
Breakfast Disappointments
Guests have also expressed disappointment with the breakfast offerings. Reviews indicate that the food is often stale and lacking in quality, diverging from the high culinary expectations one might have when visiting Greece.
Extortionate Beverage Prices
If you enjoy a cold beer by the pool, be ready for sticker shock. At €5 for a small, cold Mythos, guests feel that beverage prices are far from reasonable, leaving a less-than-favorable impression on their overall experience.
Basic Amenities, With a Twist
Though rooms feature a kettle for tea, many guests were puzzled by the absence of tea or coffee supplies, leaving them to seek out these necessities elsewhere. It’s certainly a small detail that can affect comfort during your stay.
Strongly Advise Mobility Caution
If you’re traveling with individuals requiring mobility assistance, it’s important to note that the hotel is situated on a steep hill, making accessibility a challenge. There are extensive steps, and the lack of elevators adds to the difficulty.
The Scenic Yet Isolated Location
While the views are fantastic, the hotel’s elevated position can make access to the beach and town a bit challenging. Walking to town or the beach requires navigating steep slopes, so ensure you’re prepared for a workout!
Shuttle Service Without Convenience
Although the hotel provides a shuttle service, many guests found the schedule inconvenient. The local bus stop is nearby, making it essential for you to familiarize yourself with the area’s public transport options for ease of travel.
Beach Access: A Challenging Journey
While the beach in front of the hotel is picturesque, reaching it can be tricky. Steep steps lead down to the sandy shore, making it less accessible for those with mobility challenges or families with small children.
Family-Friendly Fun
On a brighter note, families may appreciate the outdoor play area for young children. This adds a layer of enjoyment for families staying at the hotel, offering a space where kids can run and play while parents relax.
Delicious Pool Bar Delights
While breakfast may be lackluster, the food offered at the pool bar receives better reviews. Guests enjoy a variety of tasty options in a fly-free environment, making it a preferable alternative for meals during the day.
Housekeeping Brilliance
Despite mixed reviews on other aspects, the hotel’s cleaning staff generally receives high praise. Their efficiency and friendliness stand out, ensuring a clean and tidy environment for your stay.
Consistency is Key: A Call for Quality
Several visitors emphasized a desire for improved consistency in hospitality. This includes ensuring that every guest has a pleasant experience and that the hotel’s offerings meet the expected standards associated with a 4-star designation.
Prepare for the Unexpected
As you plan your stay, prepare for unexpected challenges, such as food quality and accessibility issues. With proper expectations, you can better navigate your experience at the Skiathos Palace Hotel.
A Potential for Improvement
Investing in renovations and training for staff could elevate the hotel experience into a truly memorable vacation destination. Many guests express hope for the future, wishing to see improvements in the quality of service and accommodations.
The Verdict: Proceed with Caution
In conclusion, while the Skiathos Palace Hotel excels in scenic views and a lovely pool area, many visitors have noted significant drawbacks worth considering. Be sure to weigh the pros and cons before finalizing your stay. Enjoy your time in beautiful Skiathos!

The best part of this hotel is the pool area with its fantastic views. Unfortunately, other than that this hotel isn’t great. The rooms are very dated and in need of refurbishment, the staff where not very pleasant (apart from the cleaning staff which where friendly), the hallways are lit with fluorescent pink and green lights which make the hotel seem cheap, the breakfast was basic and of poor quality, and the prices that the hotel charges for drinks Is extortionate, 5 euros for a small slightly cold mythos!!! There was a kettle in our room but no tea or coffee making facilities, not even a cup. We have stayed in many different hotels on different Greek islands including 2 and 3 star hotels which have all been much better.
We booked this hotel via Tui and it is definitely not worth the price you pay. It is not a 4* whatsoever. It is incredibly dated and is in need of renovation. The only positive of this hotel is the pool area and the scenic views. Other than that, the staff are rude and not helpful, the rooms are dated, they have a kettle but no tea or coffee, no lifts in the hotel!!!! The breakfast and is very poor and below average – if you travel around Greece, you would expect a good quality breakfast and dinner, but here unfortunately it is not. The food is tasteless, has flies all over it and limited variety. Finally, the hotel is located in a very high up area, so that to walk up there is extremely difficult and has very steep steps which is not ideal for anyone with accessibility needs. On top of that, then walking up to your room is a mission as there are no lifts!!! The shuttle that the hotel offers runs at unusual times so we tended to get the local bus more often. The bus stop is outside the hotel which was helpful, but the hotel itself is isolated – the beach opposite is lovely but is a long walk to get to. Please think before booking this hotel!!!!
This is the oldest resort-style hotel in Skiathos and unfortunately the price you pay doesn’t really match the quality you get.
1/ the rooms need major renovations. The mattresses are sagging, you don’t have plugs on both sides of the bed and toilets are leaking. Even the hairdryer belongs to the ‘80s..
2/ The breakfast is low quality. Food is stale, dry and tasteless. Also you can’t even get a decent coffee without paying €5 at the hotel bar.
3/ Personnel is rude and unhelpful. Just to give an example, if you want to park the car in front of the hotel, a designated person tells which parking spot you should take. Every time they pick the toughest spot and when you ask to put it in an easier one , they say no laughing at your face.
4/ beach towels are rarely available – we had to go back 2/3 times every day to find some.
Lastly, this is a resort for families so if you are looking for a quiet place to relax wouldn’t stay here. Of course this doesn’t drive at all my negative review but wished we knew it in advance.
Amazing views! We had a sea view room which was amazing with private balcony with sunbeds but our room was pretty basic. Can’t fault the cleaning staff, great and quick!
Pool bar staff were great, friendly with all our encounters (especially when I missed a step and badly twisted my ankle)
Great little outside play area for our 18 month old and all staff were so friendly and welcoming with her.
The pool for me was fine, nice and cold considering how hot it is! It does go from 1 meter to 4 meters pretty quick. Plenty of sunbeds and chairs.
Our main reason for the 3 stars are due to the flys, we couldn’t enjoy the breakfast or dinner due to being constantly attacked not to mention how many would be on the pastry’s, edge of the hot food trays and one day several on the mini Frankfurt’s. After that me and my partner were very picky about what to have.
I will say having the pool bar food was great and fly free which was just bizarre with it only being a few feet away!
They finish serving breakfast at 10 then dinner isn’t served until 7pm probably not an issue for some but with a young child it can be.
There are steps everywhere and some being very steep so if mobility is an issue I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
Hotel not 5*. No lift. A la carte restaurant ????? – ate there first night. Moussaka was cold on arrival. Sent back and cannot believe a Greek restaurant cannot produce their local dish which had no flavour. Extremely disappointed. Would not recommend. Why would you provide a kettle but no tea, coffee or milk in the room. Do not book if you have mobility issues. The beach is down some hazardous steps. To catch a bus to Skiathos town you can book the shuttle bus the day before or you need to walk to the road to catch the local bus but again all downhill.
