  1. We ended our mount zas hike here, having started at agia marina. The spring was wonderful to wash our hands and splash cold water on ourselves with. Zeus cave is about 20 mins away from the spring, wear proper footwear, we saw many people slipping in Birkenstocks. The marble is very slick and as you approach the cave the paved trail ends.

  2. Beautiful views from here – a pleasant interlude when exploring Naxos’s interior.

However, if you are a nervous driver or have a very nervous passenger, please note that whilst the access road is not far, it is quite exposed when going up, with a large drop to the right with no wall. You wouldn’t want to meet a car coming down, when you are going up!

  3. The drive up has incredible views. Then there is not much space to park, you leave it on the side of the road. The fountain is in a small park with trees and the setting is very beautiful. It has panoramic views and views of Mount Zas. We stopped there for lunch and it was highly recommended. From here you can follow the path to the cave.

  4. Great spot with delicious water! The hike up to Zeus’ cave was as signposted, took us around 17 minutes to hike from
    The Springs.
The hike from the Springs up to the top of Mt. Zas took around one hour 10 minutes. It was difficult, but not all that far.

  5. Beautiful serene place, great shadow to have a rest from heat.

We were informed by the locals that the water is safe to drink. They even emptied the sink, put a leave & encouraged us to fill up our water bottles.

Unfortunately, we arrived at midday so we didn’t continue for the Zeus childhood cave. Next time!
